Basso wasn't a fence. He was a boxman (slang for safecracker).

Absolutely atrocious.
And what's with the "I know a fella who can steal back its life" line?

Oh, so boxman isn't slang for a badass mothertaffer so bad he peepees in the street.
Shame.

Gah. What I want to know with these "atmospheric" promotional videos at this point, is, who's the intended audience for them? Surely they're putting out too many of them for the wider gaming audience. And surely they know it's not going to impress us. Who are they aimed at? Who at EM or SE is producing them, and what sort of feedback are they getting?

I wasn't able to understand almost anything of what he said but....the his voice, the way he looks...it seems totally out of character to me.
How comes that the Basso we knew, the guy who was in love with Jenivere, has turned into that coarse greasy bloke? I can almost sniff the stench coming from him...:(

It's interesting how the likes/dislikes are running around 40/60, but 90% of the comments are negative. I can see the internal EM memo now - "Attention, all EM staff are required to proceed to our youtube page and "like" the new promotional video. Failure to do so will result in an immediate writeup and possible further disciplinary action."
To me, this video just doesn't make any sense. 75% of it is spent saying how bad The City is, and then Basso pipes up with this winner:
"Maybe there's a fella I know who can steal back it's life."
What literary genius wrote that one? This writing is awful, terrible. So one street thug/hustler/fence or whatever they've made Basso out to be thinks a really good thief that he knows is going to somehow rescue The City from poverty, The Gloom, the oppressive City Watch, the Baron, and everything else that's bad in The City? Why would he even care?
This would have been akin to Cutty saying to Garrett in Cragscleft just before he dies - "Snap snap puppy - let's clean up this City."
Then there's the title - Basso's Gamble - what exactly is it that Basso is gambling on? Typically when you gamble you're risking something. So what, is he saying that calling on Garrett is some kind of risk to him? He's worked with him dozens of times before, but now it's risky? Again, none of this makes any sense.
People have scoffed at comparisons to Dishonored too, but come on. Stories From The City/Tales from Dunwall? Can't they do anything semi-original?
And that obligatory use of taffer - I can see them giggling in their production meeting, thinking people would start cheering when they heard it. Sorry EM, it's going to take more than superficial references to the old games to win over the old fans. I'm sure the game will be chock full of them, but none of them will have any real substance.
I can't believe they thought this vid would actually win people over.

This is a leaked screenshot that I have received from a very reliable source, depicting Bassholes latest endeavors in EMs post LGS version of The City. Lo, and the Builders were lain into the foundation of the new works.

I'm loving all the extrapolation and conclusion jumping you're doing Brethren.
