Thats great Beleg, and it did make me laugh, but it simply does not address the lack of free form game play and design, that Thief now screams of. Do we really have to go over how rabid Thief fans used to be, yet again. Get over it, your beloved Deadly Shadow sank to the bottom.

You mean besides the rather heavy handed hints about him doing just that at the end of TDS?
Ahhh...I see that you're doubly-confused, Renz.
First of all, the scene at the end of TDS was solely for the benefit of Garrett. The child was simply used as a literary device, so that Garrett could reflect on his journey through life...that's it...Yet, regardless of this,
the child from TDS is completely irrelevant to NuThief...
This is because NuThief exists in a different universe than the THIEF Universe, and is not a sequel to TDS.
I realize that this
fact is confusing, seeing that EM is actually calling this game "Thief"...and I wouldn't blame you if choose to speak out against EM's abhorrent irreverence.

Constantly making noise, not getting Garrett's way of thiefing (despite him telling and telling and TELLING her), killing and needing a powerful cheating tool: Erin sounds a lot like the NuThief player, some are concerned about. I'm onto some deep, deep meaning here, people. ;)
The concocted Erin character is simply a marketing device, to be used for EM's younger, callow, target market...a relatable character, for their benefit.
It's a terrible shame that they chose to shoehorn an insulting contrivance like this into their so-called "Thief" game.

I like to hear that now stories connected and I like the way they do this... But his performance makes me laugh, really... He acts like he tells the story to his children

Perhaps he does that because the game itself developed especially for children.

It was meant to address how fragile some of your ex-post assumptions about LGS are and about what you consider "Thief". That combined with that nasty arrogance of discrediting people as soon as they disagree actually verifies EM's previous statement about some people indulging in nostalgia. Unfortunately one cannot keep people from posting even if they lost touch with reality (and reason) quite some time ago.

Why would you introduce such a character for that reason if you're going to promptly kill her off before the game begins? Okay the into is probably a playable tutorial so she will likely play at least some role there, but still, it's kinda strange to do that.
I have no problem with Erin's character she could very well exist in the Thief universe. My issue is why Garrett takes her on, what's his justification? He's at the height of his career, he has no reason to. Had this been the end of TDS thing then maybe there would be justifications, especially if Garrett was going to drop thieving himself - if he was going to accept the role of true keeper, maybe he'd think having a new thief to act as the balancing agent would be useful and it'd be all he'd know. But none of that matters since this isn't a follow on from TDS.
Also T1's plot was basic, it was just well told, the same plot in other writers' hands could have sucked - Constantine's betrayal and everything that follows was fairly predictable, the only thing it managed to hide was that he was the Trickster. It was fairly well done though, and the world design and gameplay augmented it very nicely.
Thief 2's plot was alright even if they told you what it was 5 missions in and it had a rather annoyingly abrupt ending (It does work, but on a first playthrough it did make me think "Uh... was that the end? Okay..."). TDS had a good plotline, though I take issue with the suddenly all powerful glyphs and the way Garrett apparently didn't get to the prophecies immediately after Thief 2 despite the ending.

Even if only used in the intro, the Erin character will still serve as an anchor point for their target market...although it is likely that she will reappear again, or at least be referenced throughout the context of the main story.

NuThief doesn't take place in the THIEF Universe.

Keep in mind, that NuGarrett has a different personality, with different behavioral characteristics...EM chooses to brand this different person "Garrett", only because they own the rights to the IP.

Yes...Even with NuGarrett, this is true.

Yes...NuThief is not a sequel of TDS, and does not even exist in the THIEF Universe.

Well, unlike NuThief, these stories take place in the THIEF Universe, with the legitimate Garrett...not the corset-wearing, makeup-loving NuGarrett, who resides in some other universe.
