I am not personally going to worry about it until I hear that you ARE in fact a jive-talkin' wise-crackin' sidekick to Garret in 70's New York.
Actually even then I'd probably go nuts for it.
I'm most worried about the part in the interview where he takes inspiration from other games like Assassins Creed and Splinter Cell as those are really fake-stealth to me.
I've never played any games that take stealth as seriously as Thief. Being a first person perspective game where you can use environment entirely to your advantage is damn near unique to the game.
Well Thief deadly shadows was essentially a sloppy splinter cell rip off with a last minute tacked on first person view. I expect the same for this upcoming sequel.

Putting numbers in names was not something invented by the leetspeak movement.
Se7en did it, for instance, and 7 most definitely is not equal to V in leetspeak.
I'm not saying it's ideal the way it is, and I'm not saying I hope it stays that way, but it looks coherent, there's no denying it looks like Thief, and all the other alternatives I've seen so far as far as logos are concerned look less confident than what EM concocted.
The fact that people react negatively does by the way not mean that something is a bad decision. Not every right decision in life is popular right away. People used to ridicule and hate the "Wii" and look how good that branding has worked.

Meh I like it too. I don't buy this "4 = A" formula. It's just a way to get the number four into the word, that's all. It's the classic logo. It looks hot. Thief 4 is coming. Chill out.
:thumb: I think it looks okay, no need to go nuts about it and it will probably change, so quit taffin' around.

Calculator math jokes, and upside-down messages (the most popular being "SHELLOIL") were all the rage in the '80's:
Somebody just came out of the closet.

It was passed down from the adults and I went and shared it with my friends using my calculator watch.

All of this hullabaloo - let's not forget this is already a series tradition. They put the number in the middle of the first game, after all.
