Any mutilation of originally designed letters is not favored by Karras..... or the Builder.

SHELLOIL was only the gateway to those "calculator math jokes", Russ, since it wasn't presented to me as a math joke, which included one about Dolly Parton going to a doctor to have her breast-size modified. She was give a certain number of pills to take a certain number of days, and she didn't like the results, so the doctor gave her different prescription (pills/days), and one more time, which, in the end, left her "BOOBLESS". Tee hee heee, snicker snicker, blush--oh god...

I hope that the final name of this new Thief is not going to be "Thief 4".
I agree with the reasoning behind not naming Thief: Deadly Shadows "Thief 3". Namely, that if someone who has never played Thief before is in a store and he sees "Thief 4", he will be more hesitant to buy it since he never played Thief 1, 2, or 3. If the next Thief is simply called "Thief: Keeper Garrett" or something non-numerical, it will result in more new players.

It's a marketing thing, but people still buy Thief II: The Metal Age before the other titles, or play them out of order, so I really don't think it's a problem. Done right, and marketed right, it will intrigue newbies, and during or after playing, they will desire to seek out the earlier titles. That's what led me here, for instance. I played Thief 2 first. I was hooked and sought out the first game to get Garrett's backstory and how he got his Mechanical Eye. Also, it's uncomfortable to hear the confusion of TDS players when they learn later on that there are other titles, and should they bother playing them. The game should, by sheer enjoyment and story ties to the chronicles of Garrett, advertise and sell the other games. :erg:
