"No Man's Sky" is procedural sci-fi exploration, and *purdy*. - by Shadowcat

Good to know the first person option remains (given HelloGames notorious hardheadedness towards having an unjustifiably artistic and nonfunctional UI - it was a worry). It probably will work as it always did.

I picked this up recently during the 50% off sale period and I'm pretty happy with what I got. There's definitely some big flaws, but if you're looking for a game to escape into for a couple hours regularly I'd recommend taking a look. The NEXT update really helped iron out some of the concerns I had with the game originally. The UI is still shit though.

Yeah it's not super intuitive but you can choose to be in 1st or 3rd person on foot and separately, also choose to be in 1st or 3rd person in your spaceship. I've not played this since shortly after release. Just started a new game and it's very, very different. Still has the problem of the procedural generation just not being deep enough. I'd like to see a Biological Diversity update more than anything - reconfigure planets to have the potential for more than one biome, improve animal behaviour and give them proper AI - predators chasing herds of prey animals, creatures actually breeding in different ways. I wanted to be Outer Space David Attenborough in this game and it didn't live up to my expectations in that regard.
