"No Man's Sky" is procedural sci-fi exploration, and *purdy*. - by Shadowcat

I only got it on PS4. Not sure the base building will be as fun as Minecraft tho. IIRC you just place out pre-made rooms and halls, so not a whole lot of room for unique creations.

Sure, but we could try for scale rather than uniqueness. And the core survival / gathering loop should prove to be more interesting when done with buddies rather than on your lonesome.

I'd be up for trying it out, but I wouldn't get the game just for coop; as mentioned earlier, I'm waiting for a VR patch and/or a Steam sale. In addition, while I like pure faffing about in coop for a while, on the whole I tend to prefer more directed, objective-oriented coop gameplay.

It is on a -50% Steam sale at the moment, but still at a whooping 28€. When I picked it up in a PS Store sale half a year after release it was 16€, so the sale-price seems to increase as they add more content to it.

I still have NMS installed on the PS4 so I'd give it a go ...
I do not have it installed anymore and don't quite have the free space atm either, BUT would be interested to try it out ... however. Shoulder-cam games are 100% unplayable for me - if you get to it, please report back whether it is optional (was the shoulder-cam option always there?) and that first-person remains completely functional (vs. ex: Thief3 which never had a functional first person option).

This so much. That's what I kept thinking all three times I played and completed Thief 3 entirely in first person view.
PigLick on 27/7/2018 at 14:12
3rd person view is now the starting default, but there is an option to change to 1st person. As to the functionality I cant say as I havent played any of the previous versions, only started it today.

ok I have spent 2 hours on this, and I think Empyrion, even though its in alpha is by far the superior game, the visuals and draw distance are so much better. There are actual solar systems not just random planets, and the crafting and blueprint systems work much more effectively.

According to an article I read over on RPS. To switch between 3rd and 1st person views, you have to go through several convoluted menus.

yeh its not intuitive at all, the camera options are not where you would look for them. Its not that its seems like a bad game, just very half-baked. And as I stated, Empyrion does all this and better. Its almost like HelloGames checked out Empyrion and said "lets make it more like this"
