Gotta admit, I was a little disappointed. I thought last season's finale was tons better.
Dia on 25/5/2006 at 13:53
'k, I had to pop my husband five times last night with my BB gun; the man just doesn't learn!
-Giant Statue Foot: WTF?!! Four toes? I don't know what this means. It did kind of remind me of LOTR's giant Numenorian statues at near the falls of Rauros on the River Anduin.
-Michael is a SLIMY WORM and better have a Plan to rescue his former friends. I doubt that he can really escape the island; remember Desmond's attempt? Walt's no dummy, so I'm rather curious to hear what his take on his & his dad's whole escape is. Even though I'd like to see Michael suffer from an attack of guilt and try to rescue his buds, I'm still fed up enough with him that I don't care if that doesn't happen for a few episodes next season.
-I don't know much about electromagnetics, but I do know that it can be harmful to humans & animals. I'm not going to pretend to understand what kind of experiment was going on at the Swan; I thought maybe there was an electromagnetic generator that was being used as a power source. I have no idea what happens when an electromagnetic thingy overloads (except for what happened in the documentary 'Batman Begins'). I'm still hoping Desmond, Locke, & Eko didn't die. Remember in Eko's dream how his brother said that Eko had to save Locke from himself? We can only hope.
-Yes, TS, I think everybody recognized Kelvin. I was amazed that he died so quickly; he didn't seem to have hit his head that hard when he fell. What blew me away was that it was Libby's late husband's boat that Desmond ended up with. I love the fact that I can't predict the possibilities of connections our survivors may have had in their recent past. Now my mind is wandering off down the lane of 'What if they're really not survivors but have been on the island all along and were just brainfucked test subjects??'. Damn.
-I never noticed the Widmore Labs thing before last night. And what's up with Penny expecting the anomaly and actually having guys (Russians, no less) stationed at an observation outpost in some frozen tundra setting? It sounded like she/they were expecting something like this event. Corporate rival of Hanso, maybe?
-And yeah, I thought Charlie was definitely acting a little creepy and not just at the end. When he ran into Locke (when he was crying like a little girl) just the way he told Locke about Desmond's return was kind of 'off'; almost like Charlie was being just a tad mean & sarcastic. And why the hell didn't Charlie tell anyone wtf happened at the bunker??!! Don't tell me he was afraid of ruining 'The Mood' developing between Claire & himself! I think more than his eardrums got scrambled during the TNT explosion & then the EM thingy meltdown.
-It certainly looks like the fake Henry Gale is the leader of the Others, doesn't it? What are they going to do to our hapless heroes do you think - are they destined to become lab rats or were they considered a serious threat and going to be helf prisoners from now on? I felt rather hopeful at the looks Jack and Kate were exchanging just before the Others hooded them (was Sawyer jealous or was that a look of agreement at the end?). Damn Michael all to hell! And where the hell has Danielle gotten off to now and will she make an effort to help our survivors?
-I just keep thinking of that four-toed foot. Damn! Curiouser & curiouser. :weird:

I believe Widmore actually works with Hanso. At least, that's what I've heard from Bad Twin, that book that ties into Lost.
Notice how Penelope still had a picture of her and Desmond by her bed? Suggests that maybe in the end she didn't get married to the other guy. She told Desmond before that she has a lot of money and power, and she can find anyone she wants to. If Widmore is connected to Hanso and Dharma, then maybe somehow she knows about the island, and believes Desmond may have ended up there.
That may be why she had those two guys at the pole (North or South) sitting around. She knew about The Swan and it's electromagnetic experiments, and had those two sit around and wait for a system failure at The Swan, which they'd be able to detect.
As for Roussaeu, apparently we'll be learning more about her in season 3. The producers mentioned that they really want to tell her backstory, so maybe we'll get flashbacks of her and her crew when they first came to the island.

The only thing I found somewhat interesting in the finale was the fact that Desmond actually tried to sail off the island, but was unable to. His comment about living in a snowglobe is similar to something Henry said earlier in the season about "only God could see the island." They are disconnected from the real world somehow, but we know in fact that the real world does still exist from the scene at the very end with the Russian scientists and Penelope.

'Snowglobe'; that's right! I'd quite forgotten. Do you think that somehow ('k, I'm no scientist & am going way out on a limb here) the electromagnetic thingy created some sort of 'dome' over the island that rendered it impossible to detect by satellites & passing ships', etc., radar? That could also be the reason Desmond couldn't leave because the EM dome messed up his compass & steering mechanism thingies. You can see through a snowglobe, but unless you smash it you can't touch what's inside. Did you note the rather perturbed look on fake Henry's face when the EM thingy exploded? He did not look pleased. That would mean that they are now visible to the satellites etc. again.

Well I'm embarrassed to say I didn't. Thought he look familiar but couldn't place him. I did however, probably along with everyone else, noticed the psychic from ecko's flashback was the same one claire went to in season one.

So let's see what mysteries are left to solve -
* What's behind the makeshift concrete wall in The Swan (we know that the electromagentic force is behind there, but what is it exactly?)
* What is the monster?
* Who are The Others?
* Do the numbers have any real significance?
* Where's the radio tower (it's been mentioned, but never seen)?
* What is "The Sickness"?
* What's with the statue foot?
* What happened to The Swan?
* What's the deal with the whispers?
* Why did Sayid and Shannon see a water-logged Walt?
* How did Locke lose the use of his legs before coming to the island?
* How is it that the island has healing powers?
* Who is "He" (assuming it's not Henry Gale)?
* What was The Incident?
* What is "The Room" that The Others put Walt in?
* Why couldn't Desmond escape?
* What was up with the two guys at the end?
* What about the other stations?
* What was with the shark near the beginning of the season (it had a Dharma logo on it)?
That's all I can think of for now :p

Now that's another thing I didn't notice.
I'm even more suspicious now than I was at the beginning of the season at all these 'coincidental' meetings. :weird:
What shark? I didn't see any damn shark!!
