Arrested Development is outstanding and is continuing a fine tradition of being TREATED LIKE SHIT by BBC2 (hi,
Seinfeld!) Half eleven on a Sunday, ffs. OH GEE, WE JUST CAN'T SQUEEZE IT IN BETWEEN RICKY GERVAIS TRADING ON HIS EVER-DIMINISHING REPUTATION
Funny you should say that, the 'Extras' episode that was on tonight had an idea lifted directly from Seinfeld series 4, gervais was writing a pilot and pitching it to a BBC team, and you know what was so great... it was for 'The Office'!
Hay guyz I'm writin a new comeredy about me and my frenz doin a masaturnbation contest LOL thoughts?
Anyway yeah, Lost rules.

As for Sopranos - they originally planned only 10 episodes for the upcoming "final" season 7 - to start in January.
They ended up filming 20, so we'll get a full run of 13 eps, plus a season 7.5 a year later.
Personally, I think Gandolfini knows this is the best meal ticket he's ever going to have, and he'll keep pushing the producers for more storylines til they drop. We'll see a season 10 before all is said and done.
------------
*DVD Sched includes catching up on The Shield, I'm only partway through season 2.
Hmmm. I don't know how to take the Sopranos news. It's like David Chase is the opposite of Alan Ball, who knew how far the format could be pushed for Six Feet Under, knew how much of a good thing had been had, knew that to keep the memory and feel of the show intact and on a high, you end it when it's run its course... The result was the best finale episode of the television show I have ever seen. Sopranos seems to be getting strung along for the money and for the kudos it has garnered thus far, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan, a massive fan... I think Season 5 was strong, but I haven't seen an episode with intensity of the likes of the separation at the end of Season 4. It's an accomplished cast and mostly accomplished writing and directing, but a lot of Season 5 felt like the filler episodes of Seasons 2, 3, 4 (they've all had some, it's inevitable), they meandered, opened up unexplored plots, made standalone points about characters that weren't carried on into their continuing lives...
I feel like there's a good possibility that Sopranos could be run into the ground. I'm just hoping they don't let that happen. Tony Soprano is an amazing character.
And fucking word on the Shield... I saw season 1, fell in love with it, raved about it to some friends, they started watching it, I fell away and missed 3 seasons or whatever, now they are ranting like mad about it and telling me to watch it... Too much to watch. :(
Finishing Lost then moving onto Arrested Dev. S2, Northern Exposure S2, Deadwood S2.... the list goes on.

Oh shit, wait, you're right, I added a season in there somewhere... didn't I? It's season 6 and 6.5 upcoming.
Anyway, I thought season 4 was the weak one: Joey Pants just wasn't compelling as a character, I didn't really give a shit about the horse, and the whole Carmella/Furio thing was lifted from a daytime soap (and fuck, Furio leaving?).
Season 5 felt more like a return to form: the Johnny Sack maneuvering, the Steve Buscemi story line (which they shortchanged because his turn from legit to mob was too quick, but still worked) and the Adriana/Chris story line (which may be the highest point in the series since Big Pussy). I could do without some of the filler (his daddy's goomar), but the arc was more meaningful than Season 4.

That's exactly what happened with me.
Chiklis looks like an older version of one of my friends from college, who was going to be a cop himself. Thing is, my buddy was fuckin' psychotic, and probably would have been almost a clone of Vic Mackey. I can't help but think of him whenever I watch the show.
Fortunately, he failed the NYCPD Psych exam. Sometimes the system works. ;)

I have pretty much the entire series on my comp at home if you need to catch up.

Cheers, but I'll probably pick them up soon after I get up to speed with everything else.

I watched all 25 episodes back to back and it still don't make any sense, although
the black rock which is mentioned by the french woman is odd. Athough you don't get to see it until episode 25.
And the guys advice with the explosives is odd that he starts waving it around, then he doesn't wave it around any more, watched that a few times. :cheeky:
Anyone notice that in the episode when they find
the front of the plane, when they are being chased by the monster down that slope, and someone gets his foot caught in a loop of wire, the surface they run down looks artificial, eg man made. a big concrete slope.
SubJeff on 27/8/2005 at 14:45
Yeah, so what's up with the spoilers?

That part, unfortunately, was badly translated in French to preserve the surprise. They translated it all along until ep. 25, and then, well, obviously, there's no need to translate it anymore.
The effect was kept, but it was awkward, it felt as if something was missing. :erg: We felt... cheated somewhat.

what spoilers, the plane bits in the 1st or second episode, and everyone posting here would have seen that, and I didn't say what actually happened so they arn't spoilers.
