So, I sat down and watched the first 9 episodes (all the currently aired ones, I believe), and I must say that it is fucking GOOD SHIT. If any of you don't know what this is, it's a series running at the moment on ABC about the survivors of a plane crash who are trapped on an island. Except, this ain't no ORDINARY island, and weird shit starts happening.
I trust you people are watching this shit.
I can't remember the exact chronological order, so if you haven't seen all the episodes, highlight this motherfucking BIG BLUE BOX with caution.
The "monster": Comes across to me as a large dinosaur, although I have heard whispers that's not the truth - if it is, then here's hoping for a T-Rex. It raises the question of wether the island exists in some FUCKED UP time warp with creatures from all over living there.
What the SHIT is up with Russo (the french woman) and those voices that Saiyd (sp) hears at the end of episode 9? She keeps crapping on about that disease and there's that guy who keeps complaining about a rash and shit. That shit opened up the series to so many questions I'm just retarded with theories.
The island is fucking magical though - Locke suddenly can walk, Jack's dead father got out of his coffin and is walking about like some retarded mute phantom, and Charlie managed to find his guitar with Locke's guidance. Locke has seen something on this island, since he seems to know how it works - and remember he said seeing the heart of it and it was "beautiful"? Fuck me, this is some insane shit.
Basically everyone has to watch this shit. It's great, in a dark, brooding, FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN kind of way; despite the silly cheese moments where music plays and everyone is all cool and shit. This is some insane shit.

Great show.
Everyone watch it.

Listen to these people, they know what they're talking about. Go watch it!
Also: Did you notice that the comic book the kid was reading depicted the hero (Spider Man, I think) being attacked by a polar bear? When asked about it, the director said that all of the props are carefully considered, and are relevant somehow. WAHT.

OMGOMGOMG I fucking [bi]love[/bi] this show!! :thumb:
The producers have stated a couple of things for sure:
1. NO dinosaurs.
2. Somebody we've seen so far (besides the French woman) was not on the plane Saw an episode guide that says Hurley finds the flight manifest and that Ethan (the guy that went hunting with Locke in the last episode - played by William Mapother) is not on it.
3. All the characters are connected in some way.
4. One of the main characters will die this season.
As Tonamel said, they also have pointedly stated that every prop is very purposefully included, and that even the things that seem extraneous have meaning on the show. Makes me wanna watch really carefully and/or rewatch every episode in case I missed something.
As for theories (there are MANY), one that I see repeatedly is that they are all actually dead and that the island is some sort of purgatory, personally I don't buy that one. The island is definitely magical in some way... Locke suddenly being able to walk, the comic book & polar bear, Michael saying "I'll look for your dog when it stops raining." and the (torrential) rain instantly stops, Hurley obsessing over needing some sort of recreation/diversion and BANG a set of golf clubs materializes... etc. Kinda reminds me of the old Star Trek (TOS) episode, "Shore Leave"... Where they're on a planet that produces whatever things/scenarios they think of.
I had my own little silly theory awhile back, just a little idea that got stuck back in my brain and kept coming back as new episodes aired, making me think "heh, still could be possible". Anyway... from the start it's been Jack and Kate, right? Them hooking up is obvious, TOO obvious. But, besides that, there's something else that makes me think it won't happen. There was a TV Guide issue featuring LOST on the cover, which had an article with little tidbits about the show. One of these was What does Jack have in common with Survivor's Richard Hatch?. My first thought was "Whoa... Jack's gay?!?". The article goes on to state that like Richard Hatch, Matthew Fox likes to run around naked, much to the embarrassment of Evangeline Lily (apparently).
Oh, okay then. But there's still this little part of me that can't let go of my initial thought. Add to that the "After what you did" comment by Jack's mother in the flashback. The little bit of info we have been given about Jack's father leads me to believe that he is in fact, the type to condemn his son for being gay. I'm sure he would view such a thing as a personal affront and a shameful reflection on the family etc. Then, there was the "Are you checking me out?" scene with Kate... His response seemed purposefully ambiguous to me, implying rejection to Kate (and thereby forming something of a catalyst for her choosing to go with him to the caves, aka, stay with Sawyer), but something else as well. Complete disinterest?
I have never watched Alias, but I gather from what I've read J. J. Abrams has a penchant for the unexpected/shocking plot twist. Revealing Jack as gay might just be up his alley, right?
Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)
Anyway, great show! :cheeky:

WHAT?! A show on ABC that is good?? I dont really watch tv much but this sounds interesting. What time(s) does it come on? I am intrigued :D

I've seen precisely one episode. The 'we have one bullet left and this guy is dying episode'.
The sheer volume of absolute and unbridled stupidity in that episode alone made me not want to watch any more episodes, and I have thus not watched any more.

Wednesdays at 8/7c. I think they also show the previous two week's episodes every other Saturday, but I could be wrong.

ABC was doing the last two episodes schtick every 2 weeks, but for the last three Saturdays they haven't shown any, so it's best to catch it on Wednesday if you can.

You can also download high-quality (350-400MB MPG or AVI) episodes from lots of BiTTorrent sites within hours of them showing on TV.
(
http://www.suprnova.org/) Suprnova.org usually has it first, with lots of sources, so the downloads typically go pretty quickly.
(
http://www.tvtorrents.com/) TVTorrents.com is another really good source for any/all TV shows. Registration is required, but it's totally free, no hassle, no spam.
I try to catch Lost when it airs, but I think I actually prefer downloading the episodes and watching commercial-free, so I usually download the episodes even when I saw them already (also better than taping them).
