Yeah, I don't like pro wrestling on any level and even I think the thread shitters in this thread are coming off like colossal cocks. You guys are have gone straight from "shit-giving pals" to "guys who don't get pro wrestling trying to set the record straight on why nobody should enjoy pro wrestling."
Also: it occurs to me I'd probably actually enjoy pro wrestling if I watched it, as I consider the monster truck show I attended two years ago a personal life highlight.

edit: I have to admit, I feel a bit out of line here because I bitched at Koki for trolling my Rush thread. I was just trying to poke a bit of fun at a sport that is admittedly and unabashedly cheesy. I probably went on for too long, so if anyone's butt hurt, I apologize.
:p

I've always thought that if you can lift a 200+ lb man up over your head and hold him there while you turn around slowly to receive cheers from the audience then you're probably a legitimate athlete of some sort. Especially if this comes after a few minutes of getting thrown around / throwing someone else around. Certainly seems more athletic than running in a straight line really fast or throwing footballs around.

Honestly, you know where my aversion comes from? I pretty much have zero interest in sports of any type. Even when I was a kid and played baseball, basketball, etc. I just hated it. Bored me to tears, plus I kinda sucked at sports because I couldn't keep up (unbeknownst to me, due to the congenital heart thing). I also find the salaries of pro athletes disgusting (same for rock stars, actors, etc.) having watched many friends and family struggle to make ends meet as teachers and health care providers. I usually tolerate sports okay, and even watch the World Series on occasion, but overall they're just meh. Combine all that with the over-the-top circus stuff of wrestling and it really turns me off. Maybe if I'd said that at the start instead of joking around...
Mental note: Internet + Pro-wrestling = serious business. ;)

That I can sympathize with, I don't see how people can get wound up over something as boring as watching a pro basketball game. My pet peeve is when people start referring to their favorite team as "we", somehow implying that they have something to do with that team's success.

Yeah, I hate sports too. Why do you think I hang in an internet forum?
fett on 17/8/2010 at 19:48
I have a shirt that says, "The sports team from my area is SUPERIOR to the sports team from your area."

I'm not a sports fan but I do enjoy hockey from time to time, and I find golf great to put on while taking a nap.

Come on, fett... Is it possible for anyone from Arkansas to not live and die by Pro Wrestling?
But I'm with you, I'm not a guy who watches sports (beyond my daughter playing softball), and can't understand the people who have to wear the clothing, wave the banners, plaster the bumper stickers, and generally make watching a bunch of self-indulgent jackasses (who make way too much money for what they do, and what they are...you know...NEGROS!) play some game the only thing of true interest in their existence--go to work, pick up some wings (since somehow a greasy appetizer has now become a staple of the food-groups) on the way home, turn on the game. Yea.
[edit] I do watch hockey when the Wings are in the playoffs, but more or less just to see how they do out of curiosity and not because "we" are in the playoffs.
Speaking of which, what is this "we" shit anyway, when people talk about a team? We don't play for them. We don't get a cut of all that money, do we? Instead, aren't we the ones financing their over-priced salaries? Fuck. We. Get raped.
fett on 17/8/2010 at 21:06
Even if I were part of the "we" the members of "we" changes from season to season. It cracks me up how people bitch about classic rock bands "not even being the original guys anymore" but sports teams don't even keep a consistent line-up through an entire season. So what are you rooting for? The town? The logo? The uniforms?
