If this is relatively accurate, it would mean they put in Thief what LGS almost did but changed their clever minds about, but maybe took it even further--mission-specific, plot-centric. Garrett's character-arc, if it's true enough, might include real loneliness and talking to himself to keep himself company. :p
How gabby would Garrett have been on Normal difficulty over 3 or 4 missions if all these had stayed in TDP, and included gossip about Bafford?:
