"fixing" an old laptop with some popsicle sticks... - by lost_soul

I have an old XP Pro laptop here that I was given. It still works, but the hinges below the screen are almost completely shot. The screen hardly stands up on its own now. My idea is to duct-tape popsicle sticks to the back and use them to support the screen. :) The machine wouldn't be foldable anymore, but at least the screen wouldn't constantly fall.
I also considered just ripping the screen off. Any other ideas? obviously I don't really want to put $$ into this, because it is a 1.2 ghz machine with 256 megs of memory. I'm sure it can play Thief 1/2 though.

Somehow you've convinced yourself you need a 1.2 GHz laptop with a broken screen and 256Mb of RAM.
Do some soul searching. Take it to a recycling centre, and let it go.
