Yeah I tried to but it seems to apply only on Windows XP. There is no dllcache folder in the system32 folder in Vista. There is probably another alternative but changing the affinity manually suits me for now. I've got to try the CPU-Control program suggested by Sulphur.

You can run imagecfg.exe from anywhere, just make sure that it's in the same folder as the EXE that you're intending to patch. Just create and run the batch file (i.e. cpu.bat) in administrator mode.

If you're running Vista 64bit, try looking for it in the syswow64 folder instead of system32.

Thanks dude ! It worked fine. I've tested Running Interference for about 3-5 minutes and it didn't crash. Plus, the videos still run nicely before and after each mission ;) So, no more manual changing !

I've got Vista 32, so... thanks anyway :)

Okay, I've set the compatibility mode to Windows 98, that at least played the videos.
I tried setting the affinity to 1 CPU in the Task Manager, didn't seem to work (a window appears with two check boxes: CPU 0 & 1 I think). Not sure which boxes to have ticked; zero, one, both or neither?
I tried downloading "it" (MoroseTroll) but can't get "it" to run.
I downloaded CPU-Control (Sulphur) but thief2.exe doesn't show up on the processes list - whether the game is running or not. How do I add thief2.exe to the list?
I tried changing the target to "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 thief2.exe", all that did was change the desktop icon to a command prompt icon.
None of the above methods seem to have worked; I can view the intro video and the 1st mission briefing, but when I try to play the mission the screen just goes black and when I hit Alt+Ctrl+Delete it says "Not Responding".
I'm using Windows Vista (Home Premium) with a dual-core processor. Help?

And try XP sp2 compatibility

I don't know why anyone hasn't mentioned it, but there is (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=117616) ddfix.
The main thing is that you must be running admin mode I think.... (GUI version needs .Net 2.0 as well.) If you get the manual version you'll have to modify the thief executable. Otherwise, you can also download a pre-patched version of thief2.exe which should force the game to run in a single core.
Edit:
Thanks kaleid for the link! I was not aware of this!

Sorry, been playing T2 and doing some other stuff recently. I set the compatibility to XP and then set the affinity. Everything's working fine now.
Thanks guys, I owe you one.

- You should keep CPU 0 checked, and uncheck CPU 1. Think of CPU 0 as processor 1, and CPU 1 as processor 2. (only physically your computer has one CPU, it is just dual-core.)
- I think the reason the "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C start /affinity 1 " trick didn't work is because the command doesn't know where thief2.exe is. You need to tell it the full file path.
Mid post discovery: Actually, I just tested this on my own computer, and the reason it fails is because there is no such switch of "/affinity" in windows xp. However, I think vista has that switch, so I am not sure why it isn't working for you. At this point, I still would have tried putting the full file path for thief 2.
Good to see you got it working, nonetheless.:)
