"Cannot find Installation directory"

I was just trying to install the patch, when this pops up.
Cannot find Installation directory
Ensure the game is installed properly and try again

I've tried renaming the directory countless times, but nothing happens.

Can anybody help, please?

If you have a "Multiplayer"-button in the game's main menu, the game is already patched.

...Oops.

Now I have an even bigger problem, the reason I wanted to patch in the first place.

It exits as soon as I click the intro button. Or the start game button, after selecting a difficulty level.

Rename the file LGVID.AX to LGVID.AX.BAK
Then read on here: (http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,520.0.html) SS2 Videos / Cutscenes Guide

You should still read the aforementioned SS2 Technical FAQ and use the SS2Tool. Else you will probably run into more problems.
