Good news for 3DR. I don't think Duke necessarily has to be a relic of the 90s, though the folks over at Duke4 certainly would prefer if he was.

I see. Was there a purpose to posting a video of someone's mod experiment from eleven years ago?

And here's KVLT, not to be confused with CULTIC. So many of these things are popping up that they're running out of names.

Skip the first half for some actual gameplay.

To demonstrate that there are now long time, passionate fans of the IP working within the corporate behemoth which now owns it. The studio head of current day 3DR was literally trying to remake Duke 3D in a contemporary graphics engine (Unreal 3), at the time (11 years ago).

There's also a (
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1432570016) Serious Duke 3D total conversion for Serious Sam Fusion. It only has Hollywood Holocaust and maybe that's all it'll ever get, but I'd play through a full game of similar quality. Comes in both a faithful version of the level and a slightly expanded one.

Here's an actual old school FPS from back in the day (
https://www.gog.com/game/powerslave_exhumed) being remade by Nightdive, Powerslave. My family's vanilla CD-ROM copy of Duke 3D had folders with screenshots of other Build engine games: Blood, Shadow Warrior and Powerslave. Powerslave is the one that I never got to play of the three games.

Nightdive said this new version of PowerSlave blends both the Saturn and PSone versions of Lobotomy Software's shooter, which was known as Exhumed in Europe.
Here's the official blurb on this new port:
"Destination: the ancient Egyptian city of Karnak. Alien forces possessing horrifying powers have sealed off the once thriving community from all outside contact. As a covert operations specialist, you have been trained for all forms of contingencies. Nothing can prepare you, however, for the nightmare you are about to enter..."
New features include widescreen / HD display, modern gamepad support, SMAA anti-aliasing, anisotropic texture filtering and achievements. Nightdive said PowerSlave Exhumed is "both versions of the original game combined to bring the best of both worlds".

I remember enjoying Exhumed / Powerslave a lot. It was also one of those rare games that had a superior console version, so good news they're doing the Saturn/PS.
If I'm not misremembering, the console version had more of a metroidvania style.

Thanks; I'd initially misinterpreted the video as being new, but it all makes sense now.
