(

The last true adventurer, or at least that's how I viewed him as a kid after I read a book on the Everest climb. Definitely a life well lived, particularly his philanthropy to the people of Nepal. Sad to see him go.

You could say his life peaked around 1953.

And it was all downhill after that.

Here's to a great man but a man who was also in a lot of ways just a decent down to earth bloke.
Not only was he a legend for climbing Everest but also in NZ for the many ways he tried to make NZ better.
We're definately poorer for losing him.:(

He's got some serious big cojones! Good luck in your next adventure! What big aspirations he had. It's something to be commended on for his pioneering adventures.
I kinda thought he was already dead because I haven't heard of anything in years about him. Kinda makes me want to play the "Alive or Dead?" game. Someone gives you a name like Bobcat Goldthwait, and then you have to guess if they are alive or dead. (Bob is alive if you're wondering.)

Sadly this pun is probably the pinnacle of the thread.

Do you mean it's going downhill from there? :o
