Elfen Lied's pretty good.

To those who say Keanu can't act, you're wrong - I've never seen such intensity and emotion when he stuck his gun into the air and fired all the bullets when he let Swayze escape in Point Break.
Goddamnit guys, his heart was breaking right in front of your eyes and you all missed that?
but srsly he can act and it wouldn't take much acting to convey a good Spike imo

at the time I remember imagining one of those bullets coming down and killing a granny or something.

at least they're not thinking of making a live action abortion out of Darker Than Black.
... I hope. =/

I'm just not seeing enough inner pain buried under the surface in Keanu.
I always got the picture that it was burying a lot of painful memories that made Spike so mellow.
I read Keanu's biography, and it looks like enough shit has happened to him ... the constant moving, the step-mothers, the tragic deaths of people very close to him, the nightmares of a gravestone reading "He played Ted" ... to make him scarred for life.
But I'm just not seeing it.

Most people would consider that the highlight of their life. But oh no, not Kenau. He's apparently too good for that.
Now I hate the fucker, and I'm sure he'll ruin Cowboy Bebop.

I am not an anime fan, per se. I do, however like the stuff on AdultSwim.
Which is to say, you like anime, but are afraid to admit it.
But that's beside the point. You should watch Paprika.

It doesn't help that he gets cast as:
- an all-powerful god of fighting and code in
The Matrix- a representative of an alien race with a pseudohuman form or whatever in that recent p.o.s.
However, take a look at him in
Something's Gotta Give as a doctor who falls in love with an older woman... he sells it, he's got heart, warmth and charisma. He's not always rubber faced Keanu, generally these blockbusters want their protagonists to be stoney, cool and impassive in the face of danger etc. Someone's bad idea of "badass".

"Millennium Actress" was way better than "Paprika" imo, by the same director (Satoshi Kon). Paprika had too much weird shit going on, especially for an anime starter.

Yeah, actually. Having Keanu playing Spike isn't that bad a choice.
You're right. Having Keanu playing
anything is a bad choice.
That's not entirely accurate, you should hear his Shakespeare. True genius.
Or is that gut-wrenching? I get the two confused.
...and yes, I realize I'm Johnny come lately to the Keanu bash, but endless Margaritas have impaired my judgement.
