Hitler cat is not amused.
Seriously, you want to work out why someone wants to blow himself up for something? (Whatever it be, martyr's fame or sex with imaginary girls.)
I doubt there's any feasible way to do that on an individual level. People kill themselves all the time without any such exuberant prospects or cause.
The general situation that led to this is only superficially easier to analyse.
Invading a country of religious nutcases mentally stuck in the dark ages but versed in modern guerilla warfare would be the obvious answer.
But I think there's more to it, one or more causes that lie at the base of our society, not some muslim country's. After all, many of the people who engaged in terroristic attacks have lived most of their lives in western civilisation before deciding to spend their lives attacking us.
Looking for such causes would be a painful process of selfanalysis for our society and might lead to the realisation that the values we defend so proudly have been hollowed out, undermined and betrayed by ourselves for so long that nothing than empty shells of the once meaningful words remain.
Furthermore anyone asking for such selfanalysis will be called an apologist for the terrible attacks and a whistle-blower. And most of all he would have to face the infinite selfrighteousness of one well established argument: "What do you want? We're on the winning team!"
Well it doesn't look like we're winning to me.
Oh and Bebop: stfu

Heh, yeah, what's with all this "alleged" business - guilty until proven innocent I say.

He's an unpopular guy.
I, however, prefer to think he's misunderstood.

I suddenly got the terrible feeling he might agree and then add something so clever it would make me cringe and regret I had allowed myself to speak in this insinuating tone inviting his brand of comment.
Ah to hell with it, I hate him because he's smarter than me.
There, now you know.

I'm an unpopular guy here - will you say the same thing about me? please?
Kolya on 2/2/2007 at 08:30
You almost had me, but it's no fun to tell people to stfu when they're begging for it. Somehow it wouldn't satisfy me the same way and I don't want to spoil the experience. Sorry.

I meant saying I is smarter than you!
Kolya on 2/2/2007 at 13:22
Oh that, well this will hurt you more than me now, but here you go. I is smarter than you. No wait, Convict is smarter than me! That's what I meant. I can already see your popularity level rising. Some darlings better be on the watch out. Unless they pay more than you did. How much did you plan to invest in your future? Think of it like Mensa, it's about the people you get in contact with. I can open many doors for you. What you make of the opportunities I present you with is totally up to you. General decision making and guidance in high-profile behavior is included though.

Unfortunately it's in German but you will have to learn that anyway and why not start practicing now.

I thought it was Arabic I would have to start learning... Didn't the threat of extended German lessons get stopped a few decades ago?
joke!
