Muscle Shoals.
It's amazing how nondescript that place looks. It's literally like every other old building off the side of the highway around here. Hell, it could almost be the place where I used to rent movies when I was a kid.

Yeah ole Joe Bob, how the hell is it that so much good shit died in the late nineties?
You know he's back on Shudder, right? He's running a show called, appropriately enough, The Last Drive In, which is a lot like Monstervision was back when, though with a tighter focus on late 70's and 80's horror flicks. I've watched a couple of episodes, and thought it was pretty solid.

Sounds like we've got things under control.
Hey, Nicker. I'd take one of those ass cleaners, but it looks sorta scary. What's it made out of?
All natural sponge and renewable stick technology. I can get you some gently used and well rinsed ones for a super deal. I also have hand crafted, artisan toilet paper. Old family recipe made of 100% recycled newspaper.

Why are socialist short on resources. ?
Because of the fucking 1%. Same as it ever was. Have you never tripped over any human history while bouncing off the walls, mate?

I did not. I have to change up my TV viewing. Nothing worth a damn is on Direct TV anymore. The best horror is eighties horror.

As usual the entire conversation become everyone
engaging in the #1 tactic political liars use: deflecting from and then ignoring the main point.
And what was your main point ?
Quote:
But get a load of this, one of the guys on the committee believes all people should die by age 75.
Was that your main point ?
I read the column you linked. I'm not sure what generic point Emanuel is trying to get across. He mainly talks about himself. But what I see there is a guy who is scared to get old, and ill. He certainly does not believe that all people should die by the age of 75. He explicitly states he is against euthanasia (and suicide). He's not gonna commit suicide when he's 75. He's just gonna refuse serious healthcare if/when he needs it.
But the most noticeable thing is: he only talks about himself. He doesn't even once suggest others should follow him. He also doesn't talk about laws or policies or anything like that. The issue of 1) duration of life and 2) quality of life at an elder age is an issue that has and is been discussed at many places and many times before. E.g. my dad (who is 80+) talks about this issue regularly.
Maybe this is impossible to understand for Republicans. You can talk about how you want to live your life. And at the same time you can not say anything about how you think others should live their lives. Republicans (because they are Christians) always talk about what is the ethical thing to do. And they love mentioning that only they know what is ethical, because atheists have no religion and thus no ethics. (What?!?). I wrote that in NL 95% of Dutch people support our euthanasia-law. Of course it just the extreme religious conservative political parties that oppose the law. And as always, they want to put the law of their imaginary god upon all the other people. They can not imagine that different people have different points of view, and that the law should let people make their own ethical decisions.
Quote:
the text of the article is a basically a virtue signaling argument about why people should just be allowed to die one they're 75.
No it is not. Absolutely not. But you seem incapable to make a distinction between someone who says "this is how I want to live my life" and "I want everyone else to follow my rules".
Quote:
So "alt right media" has nothing to do with this. I've literally just given you a link to a column penned by his own hand advocating 75 as the right age for people to die.
Going from "Emanuel is afraid to be ill and needy when he gets old", or "Emanuel discusses the issue of duration of life versus quality of of life" to "Biden puts Dr Mengele in charge of healthcare" is *exactly* the type of spin that alt-right media put on everything. Everything.
I don't know what to say anymore. It seems there is no point.

See that graph Jason posted? You're gonna have an easier time arguing with that than with TinyTony, Little Flower. Save your breath for birthday candles, because that guy is just spare parts from tip to tail.

I got rid of DirectTV awhile ago. These days, I'm all about the antenna, Netflix, and Hulu (and occasionally Amazon). All the movies and TV I want, for a 3rd of the price.

Yes. Yes it is.

My mother was a very devout Christian, Gryzemius, and was utterly bemused and deeply shocked by the public face of Republican christianity. But I'm sure there are many Republicans who have read about faith, hope and charity and not shoved them in the back of a drawer to be forgotten about. We just don't hear about them. Incidentally, shortly before she died, my mum was trying to work out how to get to Switzerland. But then her God was a merciful God and would understand that she'd had enough.
jk has been banging on about 'flu and statistics with no apparent appreciation of the fact that he's talking about real people. It's depressing. So I'm posting this just for him: (
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/consultants-beautiful-letter-older-people-17924337) A letter from a Cardiff intensive care consultant.
Quote:
"It must be so hard listening to endless news reports that end with 'don’t worry, this illness mainly affects the elderly, frail, vulnerable, or those with serious underlying health conditions'. What if that is you?" he wrote.
"Our passion as an intensive care community is fixing problems that can be fixed. Yet we often meet patients like you who have problems that cannot simply be fixed.
"As this virus continues to impact on the world, we will meet many more of you. Although we have fancy machines, powerful drugs, and talented staff, none of these things cure every disease. All they do is give us time – time to work out what is wrong, time to hopefully treat it, and time for people to get better.
"But sometimes we already know what is wrong, we already know that there is no effective treatment. And so sometimes the machines offer little, intensive care offers no fix. But hope is not lost. We have not forgotten about you."
"As difficult as this is, we will be honest. We will continue to use all of the treatments that may work and may get you back to being you again. We will use oxygen, fluid into your veins, antibiotics, all of the things that may work. But we won’t use the things that won’t work.
"We won’t use machines that can cause harm. We won’t press on your chest should your heart stop beating. Because these things won’t work. They won’t get you back to being you.
"And If these things are still not enough, we will sit with you and with your family. We will be honest, we will hold your hand, we will be there. We will change our focus from cure but most importantly we will continue to care. We have not forgotten about you."
A little kindness, jk, would go a long way.
