I really don't think there's anything like a tuning-training in lab to "prepare" the virus to be "deadly attuned" to human genome. The virus "tuning" needs real specimen in various real settings where it's free to evolve, just look at the "new" variants. English, brasilian, indian.....what a coincidence: no initial restrictions/restrains.
The only plausible scenario among the "conspiracy ones" is the lab incident as a point of origin. And its negligent handling.
