Somewhere around a month ago vaccinations were opened for everyone - if i understood it correctly. When i heard about that i went right to the website (the natonal patient portal, ie. not a covid specific thing) - and found myself in a line ... apparently the site has an automatic load-balancer for use-spikes in the form of virtual waiting line. So, decided to do some vaccine research instead and when i returned to the site (after rebooting the computer for unrelated reasons) found that the thing managed to remember my spot in line :D . So, after a total of ~30 minutes i was in - picked a place / time (don't care, 5min granularity) / doc (don't care) and what vaccine variant i want (iirc. there were 4 or 5 options) - and done.
Actually getting the shot was interesting. No unnecessary contacts setup. Sign telling to go strict to the site. Free masks etc provided. Followed the excessive amounts of arrows on walls and floor - which i found amusing. Got called in immediately (i was on time) - got the shot - next time scheduled - got some relevant reading material printout for my vaccine of choice - and got told to stay out there for 15 min (just in case) with a suggestion to read the printout given or read the heap of covid related crap on the table to pass the time - done. Took till evening to notice some party to start in the shoulder - got much worse the next day - but slowly subsided in a few days after that.
Yeah, no complaints there. All went smoothly.
Apparently, currently 37%+ of total population has got one or both shots so far (46%+ in adult category). Seems to be going well enough now. 3-4 months ago things looked insanely slow in comparision.

Why engineer a virus (intrinsecaly flawed as a weapon) when you have antrax? No man, noboby loses time when you must seek a *certain* result (as anthrax enables). It's pure fantasy from a *real* biological warfare point of view.
"Plausible deniability"
"Control"
Anthrax is a
known quantity.
Engineered Coronavirus can be released in multiple forms and the information about any specific strain can be controlled by media handlers.
You can release deadly variants and weak variants.
If a scientific consensus is reached about one strain, introduce another that contradicts that consensus.
This is less "full scale bio-warfare" and more of a targeted attack.
The CIA and China don't want to start WWIII they just want to continue infiltrating and subverting America unfettered.

What does "they all find the genome inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory" mean in the 2nd paragraph?
That it's unexpected and needs more research.
Quote Posted by nbohr1more
How much further are you going to go to deny this:
I haven't denied anything, except the idea that the email is saying the virus looks artificial. Because the first paragraph is pretty clearly stating that the overwhelming majority of the genome looks normal, and that it's cherry-picking to focus on the tiny percentage that appears abnormal.
Kind of like how you cherry-pick that one sentence out of the paragraph that gives it context, ironically enough.

Are you willing to state unequivocally that this is a natural virus and that any attempt to suggest otherwise is a waste of time?
No.

Will you accept your role in prolonging the research needed to address this virus because you insisted that it was "not possible" to be engineered?
Did I insist that? Do you have me confused with someone else? Have you forgotten to take your meds?
Why do you even post here?

Well if it's an engineered virus, they managed to do it without using any known gene editing techniques, requiring technology currently unknown to science.
In other words, nbohr is chatting shit, as per its programming.
Back on topic - I got my first shot yesterday. Next one is booked for 17th July.

I had my first Pfizer dose on 24 April and second 15 May. Vaccine eligibility opened up rapidly here. By 12 April, it was open to all adults. And ages 12-16 since May 12.
Now we're starting to run out of people who want the vaccine. In my state (NH), we currently have about 50% of the total population fully vaccinated and 60% with at least one dose. The trend suggests we're going to hit a ceiling of maybe 65% unless another wave comes along to motivate people.
The states around us have better vaccine takeup and are probably going to plateau around 75%. But there are other parts of the US where the majority of people are resisting. For example, Mississippi is hitting a plateau already with only ~1/3 of the population having one dose.
I'm generally happy with how things are going in my part of the country. There's still COVID going around, but it's at a low level now. The number of active cases in my town of ~33k has been around 5 for the last few weeks, which is the lowest it's been since the beginning of March 2020.
My state lifted its mask mandate on April 17 and eliminated all of its remaining COVID restrictions on May 8. Nothing much changed at first. But a week ago, most businesses changed their mask policies to follow CDC guidelines. I go to the grocery store about every other day. I've seen mask wearing go from 100% to 2/3 to 1/3 to 10% in one week. On Monday, my company announced that if you submit proof of vaccination, you no longer need to wear a mask at work. As of today, only half the people at work are now wearing them.
Besides masks, most people are still keeping their distance and avoiding big gatherings. But sporting events are back to full attendance, and some of the restaurants and bars around me are packed like a sardine can most nights. Getting back to normal, at least until another wave.

So you are disputing the findings in this article?:

“Such early optimization is unprecedented, and it suggests a long period of adaptation that predated its public spread,” wrote Quay and Muller. “Science knows of only one way that could be achieved: simulated natural evolution, growing the virus on human cells until the optimum is achieved. That is precisely what is done in gain-of-function research.”

"NYPOST" :rolleyes::rolleyes:
I guess things have changed here since I've been away.
Nobody that wants to be taken seriously would ever think to reference NYPOST as proof, used to be common sense. Now anybody is a trustworthy source as long as they say what you want ain't it?
