They finally opened up vaccinations to my age group here (25-39) and I'm scheduled to GET JABBED on Thursday! :D
How's the rest of TTLG doing? I imagine most Americans and Brits have gotten theirs already? How's everyone else doing?

After the beginning of the vaccination process went reasonably well (if a bit slowly) in Switzerland, once they had vaccinated perhaps 1/6 of all people - but not yet vaccinated all the risk groups - they threw it open pretty much for *everyone*. Depending on what canton you live in, you can register and then they notify you when you can go and get the jab. The canton I live in, it's first come, first serve - so whenever slots open up again, hundreds of thousands scramble to get an appointment. I check about 4-5 times every day but have yet to get an appointment. :-/ On the plus side, my dad's been vaccinated since March (here's hoping he won't have to get a second round of jabs before I get my first), and my wife had her second jab a couple of weeks ago.

They say Japan won't be ready for public vaccinations until at least mid-July, and even that isn't clear. It would be through our city, and they haven't sent us any info about it. Of course, the Olympics are within 50 days, and it's still not even clear if that's happening. They really don't have their act together. It's sad. Osaka just got wracked in the last few weeks too.
I guess on the "bright side", it's possible I still have antibodies since I caught the damn thing last year and had it drag me through possibly the most miserable 6 months of my life (distant voice of Homer: "...so far"). I wouldn't call it a silver lining, but it's something at least. But even still, I'd rather just get the vaccine.

My family and local friends are all vaccinated, thankfully, except for the little ones. It was hard to get appointments for a while, until quite suddenly it wasn't.

Got vaccinated (both shots) last month, as did all my friends who hadn't already been vaccinated.
There was a guy on Nextdoor (local neighborhood social media) who posted a rant asking why people are still wearing masks when the scientists say we don't need to wear them anymore, and obviously we trust the science right? I pointed out that that was only for people who have been vaccinated, and asked if he'd gotten his shot. He said that was a very personal matter and none of my business. Yeah, thought so. A moderator deleted the post and he kept re-posting it, getting increasingly agitated about the 'communists' running the site, until he vanished altogether. Entertainment like this is really the only reason I use Nextdoor.
Anyways, I'm expecting this to be the theme: Responsible people are getting vaccinated and don't need to wear a mask, the weird reactionaries outright refuse to get vaccinated and demand not to wear a mask, and vulnerable people can't tell the difference at a glance. So we're all still wearing masks here in the DC area.
Oh yeah, and it's really sad that states are having to run cash lotteries for people who get vaccinated as an incentive.

So a Kristian G Anderson was loudly disclaiming that Coronavirus could possibly be bio-engineered while at the same time telling Dr Fauci that parts appear
to be man-made:

I like how you completely miss the rest of the paragraph, and zero in on a single phrase that means the opposite of what you think it does.

What does "they all find the genome inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory" mean in the 2nd paragraph?
How much further are you going to go to deny this:

?
Are you willing to state unequivocally that this is a natural virus and that any attempt to suggest otherwise is a waste of time?
Will you accept your role in prolonging the research needed to address this virus because you insisted that it was "not possible" to be engineered?
lowenz on 7/6/2021 at 20:52
Why engineer a virus (intrinsecaly flawed as a weapon) when you have antrax? No man, noboby loses time when you must seek a *certain* result (as anthrax enables). It's pure fantasy from a *real* biological warfare point of view.
