(

Um... don't go into the light!
I guess I'm holding up pretty well, all things considered (introversion FTW!), but it's quite disheartening when I go out in the public and I'm the only person wearing a mask, even though cases are on the rise.

Yeah, probably the headlamp of an oncoming train...

Up here in Wisconsin we're opening field hospitals for those infected with covid; I guess the warm weather we had in late September convinced too many idiots that the threat of the virus was gone because we've had a sudden increase in the number of covid cases. On a more positive note, it's reassuring to see most people abiding by the new rules; i.e., wearing masks & keeping at least a 6 ft. distance from others.

And another community case. Fuck! Just as I'm about to fly back home in just over 24 hours from posting.

It's exactly the same situation here in Italy.

It might not be (

TUCSON, Ariz. - SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, can relieve pain, according to a new study by University of Arizona Health Sciences researchers.
The finding may explain why nearly half of all people who get COVID-19 experience few or no symptoms, even though they are able to spread the disease, according to the study's corresponding author Rajesh Khanna, PhD, a professor in the UArizona College of Medicine - Tucson's Department of Pharmacology.
“It made a lot of sense to me that perhaps the reason for the unrelenting spread of COVID-19 is that in the early stages, you're walking around all fine as if nothing is wrong because your pain has been suppressed,” said Dr. Khanna. “You have the virus, but you don't feel bad because your pain is gone. If we can prove that this pain relief is what is causing COVID-19 to spread further, that's of enormous value.”

The final post-mortem on this entire episode is going to make for some fascinating and harrowing reading. This virus sure is complex.

The infection is envolving all the physiological systems thanks to ACE2 binding and the immune system overdrive (stimulated by the virus itself) is what can do the heavy damage.
Treating COVID late is very difficult,” Benjamin tenOever, a virologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, wrote in an email to Science. “At this point in the disease the issue is more about inflammation and clotting, which is likely why these four drug regimens showed little value.”
So the only really right move is to prevent the infection through the vaccination.
Or to accept the intrinsic "human selection" of this bad situation.....
