Kinda depends on the cost of getting tested. It's a bit of a stretch, but yeah, it's not impossible, not least because the tests aren't all that accurate.

Hoping to get some opinions from around here. I have a co-worker who's wife tested positive for Covid-19 (she works as a nurse in a hospital). Ever since he found out, he has quarantined, and also since then, he has been tested twice, and both times he was negative.
So, even though I have friends telling me I should get tested, I think that's a bit of an overreaction. I mean, if he is negative, there's no way I could be infected (by him at least), right? There isn't some weird thing where you would test negative, show no symptoms, but still be able to carry it to others, correct?
Positive=nose/throat infection
Negative=no sign of virus replication in nose/throat tissues->low probability to infect others (still possible through
fingers touching the eyes and then something else)

Professor of Medicine lowenz does it again.

Of course the virus can be present in the nose/throat (positive test result) due to a *lower* respiratory tract infection and not to a local replication but in that case you got the related symptoms (chest pain in several degrees).
Brethren asks for the case "showing no symptoms" (=light symptoms -> nose/throat/eyes conjunctiva)

I hear that if you stick your finger in your nose, you find boogers.

Just remember to turn off the camera before you go hunting for magic nose goblins.

I had a discussion yesterday with a relative who asked me and my wife, if the corona vaccine gets released, would you get vaccinated...?
I knew from the start where this was going because she's all kinds of crazy and being an anti-vaxxer is but one petal of her flowering theories.
Next she informed me that the vaccine "they" are working on "will change your genes! Would you still use that?". Imagine her triumphant smirk here for being privilige to such important insider information. And image me just wanting her to leave and not having to lead this discussion with her.
Hers is an upper middle class family, her mother is a teacher, but somewhere along the line they took a turn to distrust "the media" and instead listen to selected hearsay from esoterics, alternative medicine, Facebook etc. I think there was just too much change for them, which they barely understood, let alone could control. And this is their way to take back control, to get back into a position where they define their story.
The world is a frightening place, I get it. And I wouldn't begrudge them their ways if they weren't making it even more frightening for non-crazy people.

This is something I've been seeing in my country, en masse, for quite long now. With the overwhelming availability of information for everyone, including Facebook and social media, it turned out the world is full of shades of gray, hard and complex to grasp. So many different people, countries, backgrounds and situations, sometimes requiring quite an exercise in empathy. What a lot people did, a lot of them with university degrees, was "fuck it, this too hard, this isn't our world, back to our simplicity!"

Empathy and *patience*.
And dedication. Sometimes sacrifices (you know, "victory costs, every time you pay a little more")
The "winning oversemplification" process is really eager of human desperate minds.
