The fact that he can't actually literally prescribe it to anyone does not make it wrong to call him out for spreading misinformation and bullshit. That's fucking stupid.

Yeah, this is not a "both sides" issue. A president encouraging people to try unproven treatments with potentially quite serious side effects is not some harmless quirk that can be handwaved away. Especially as it's a drug that other people need and rely on. No, he can't personally prescribe the drug, but that doesn't mean he should be giving medical advice or encourage doctors to prescribe it "just in case".

There's no evidence from any reputable source that this does what people are claiming it to do. From the studies thus far, it doesn't kill coronavirus, and it may only help in the most extreme of cases, when a patient is well past the initial infection, and suffering a cytokine storm, and even the evidence for that is pretty touch and go. Hydroxychloroquine isn't something you want to take if you have a sore throat, and just want to be sure.
The worst part about this is that people now have to take the time out to explain shit to a bunch of dipshits who are getting all overly excited about something they don't understand just because Trump preached it on live TV. If you want to talk about TDS, look at all the people who have vested their personality into the guy so deeply, they'll take every word he says as gospel truth, and will spin off conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory just to keep him, and by extension themselves, from looking stupid.
