WELL IF YOU WANT TO GET ON SUBJECT.
I don't think you could give Trump the win on this one (though he'll take it, if the report goes across our 24 hour news networks). All our troops are currently stationed around interests Syria. This was due to the Kurds and Iraqi military, likely with some US logistical support we've been providing them since we pulled out of Iraq.

the last bozo we had in office had no problems arming "rebels". seems cheeto hitler is not doing that so that there is a plus, what would be AWESOME is if we just GTFO of the M-E altogether

Well, we're at least now getting to the point where it might be possible to perform Middleeasternus Interruptus (SEE WHAT I DID THERE). The only reason we should be sticking around is to take care of ISIS, and once that's done, we pick up stakes, and roll out. There's also Afghanistan, but that's proven itself to be a neverending time and money sink with no real accomplishable goals in sight. The best thing to do there is provide logistics from afar to the local friendly government, and hope things turn out for the best.
Oh, and Iran, of course. Though the only reason they're currently a big concern is because Obama had the temerity to strike an agreement with them, and that CANNOT STAND!

We're really damned if we do, damned if we don't in regards to the ME. If we leave, we're merely kicking a can down the road, one that'll fill with worms in about a decade. The current issues will become entrenched, and thus more difficult to fight, and will eventually come to attack us again. If we stay, we're involving ourselves in a nigh endless series of brushfire wars that'll achieve nothing but causing more strife, discord, and burnt money. First, it was the Mujahideen, who eventually splintered off to form Al Qaeda. They, in turn, doubly radicalized, and came to form ISIS. What enemy will tomorrow bring?
Of course we could try the happy medium, which has been attempted by every president from Carter to Obama. We arm a bunch of dissidents, they fight the good fight, possibly win, then turn around and use our own arms against us at some later point.
...so, yeah. We've created a situation where, no matter what we do, we're screwed.

The really difficult bit would be persuading everyone else to do the same. If the US, UK, Russia, and everyone else all agreed to neither supply nor use any weapons within say 1000 miles of Riyadh for the next 100 years then things would probably calm down a bit in a few decades.
There's been a pretty constant state of some level of warfare in the middle east for well over a century simply because
nobody has ever said "no." Whether it's selling the latest shiny toys to the saudis or handing out assault rifles and rpgs to anyone who promises to only shoot at whoever we've declared to be the enemy this week.

But considering the tremendous amount of money and resources still left to be had and made in the ME, the chances of multiple countries coming to an international level agreement on such has about a snowballs chance in hell of happening. Best we can hope for is a slight deescalation if and when ISIS is taken care of.

don't care about other countries, what WE do is what matter, ISIS smisis, they would not exist w/o our interference, and if they did their wrath would be with the countries still there.
