So Trump doesn't like us because he can't make "deals" with every specific EU country but only with the EU as a whole. The Netherlands actually has a trade surplus with the US so an individual deal would benefit my country, but I support the EU's policy of forming a unified front. A 50% tariff, just as my stocks have started to recover from the previous tariff war. Well, I'll live and it's not as important as the horrible stuff that's going on like in Cipheron's post above me.

And he wants Apple to make iPhones in the USA. Haha, then they will become so expensive I won't even be able to afford them anymore.

Hey we have one bit of good news from the USA

US Treasury confirms the end of the penny
That's going through without even a whisper of opposition.
However I was thinking, imagine if this happened under a Democrat. Imagine Biden did this in the last term, or Kamala Harris had won and the same change happened right now? Don't you get the feeling a huge "save the penny" MAGA movement would have sprung up?
I asked ChatGPT to brainstorm some conspiracy theories that might have arisen, here are just the bullet points:
1. “Eliminating National Identity”
2. “Step Toward a Cashless Society”
3. “China or WEF Influence”
4. “War on the Working Class”
5. “Lincoln Cancellation”
6. “Inflation Cover-up”
7. “Deep State Agenda”
8. “Religious Conspiracy” ("In God We Trust" - good catch, ChatGPT)
9. “False Flag Distraction”
10. “Green Agenda Overreach”
So you see, it does look like something that they could have milked for years, never letting up about how they came for your pennies. But because Trump did it, not a whisper.

And in other news, Musk is out.
As predicted, the partnership didn't last until the next election cycle.

Yup, but it's not like it isn't a carousel of crazy that keeps revolving to the next guy:

The head of the Federal Drug Administration under Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has claimed that diabetics should get a recipe book instead of insulin.
FDA Commissioner Marty Makary appeared on Sunday Futures on Fox News to make these comments.
"Maybe we need to treat more diabetes with cooking classes, not just throwing insulin at people," Makary, a COVID-19 vaccine skeptic, said.
"You know, scientists have been waving the flag for years, saying you've got to look at this body of scientific data, and the modern medical establishment really has been disconnected," he added, the Daily Beast reported.

Their whole house of cards is falling apart around them.
I guess it gives me a little faith that rule of law can hold the line although it's slow and plodding and people hate lawyers and regulations. I think the admin has different abilities to ignore court orders, which I have no doubt is what they'd do across the board if they could... for the ICE operations (walking up in plain clothes and masks to grab immigrants off the street and throw them into a nearby van to go into detention, and if they're really unlucky on to a C130 jet to a torture prison in Ecuador), since they have a loyal force doing their bidding, it's easier to ignore the court order to stop that. Although I think even here, they can only get away with it for so long before judges start issuing contempt of court arrest warrants for specific officials like they're threatening. We'll see.
But something like tariffs, we're talking about customs officers, CBP--which granted is still part of DHS, the closest you're gonna get to a US agency infused with fascist thinking, run by Kristi Noem, famous for shooting her dog and her immigrant-humiliation-porn commercials--but customs officers are doing the day to day business of managing vast amounts of import shipments everyday of everything, dolls, pocket calculators, car parts, jet engines... They're the kind of people that care about customs forms and court orders.
It's not like they think they're trying to purge the US of all immigrant Arab (terrorists, sure) and Latin American (criminals, sure) people to make sure whites "Americans" aren't being "slaughtered in the streets" like the Turner Diaries warned us about. They're keeping the US connected to the global supply chains that keep our entire economy running.
And clearly Musk has had enough of this shit. He wanted the US govt to be like one of his companies where he could just dictate what happens and not see any push back. He obviously didn't have any idea what he was stepping into when push-back came from every direction, justifiably since he's made an incredible mess. We just had a meeting today with people working in other governments in the EU and Asia, and they've completely halted all collaboration with every US agency because they're all compromised now because of DOGE, which I'm sure is going to take decades to recover from, if ever.

LOL, it's just fucking stupid.
Diabete I is not a bad diet consequence and you don't use insulin to treat Diabete II (the one being a bad diet consequence)

Trump appealed the unanimous ruling against his illegal, unconstitutional tariffs, to SCOTUS, and got a stay on keeping the tariffs in place until that appeal is heard...
BUT
...there is a very revealing caveat attached, or rather, deeply buried in the fine print of the appeal. Administration lawyers promise that if they lose the appeal, Trump will refund all tariffs paid, plus interest.
Of course such a loss and preadmission of damages would probably open the government up to suits for other damages from anyone who was harmed in any way by his clearly illegal actions.
Too bad taxpayers will foot that bill and not MAGA.

As it happens, millions of Americans with type 2 diabetes
are on insulin. They would in fact be much better off altering their diet to drastically reduce carbohydrate intake, whereby type 2 can be put into remission. But of course, the pharmaceutical companies would not make their $20 billion a year if people did that.
