WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics Committee's long-awaited report on Matt Gaetz documents a trove of salacious allegations, including sex with an underage girl, that tanked the Florida Republican's bid to lead the Justice Department.
Citing text messages, travel receipts, online payments and testimony, the bipartisan committee paints a picture of a lifestyle in which Gaetz and others connected with younger women for drug-fueled parties, events or trips, with the expectation the women would be paid for their participation.
The former congressman, who filed a last-minute lawsuit to try to block the report's release Monday, slammed the committee's findings. Gaetz has denied any wrongdoing and has insisted he never had sex with a minor. And a Justice Department investigation into the allegations ended without any criminal charges filed against him.
“Giving funds to someone you are dating — that they didn't ask for — and that isn't ‘charged' for sex is now prostitution?!?” Gaetz wrote in one post Monday. “There is a reason they did this to me in a Christmas Eve-Eve report and not in a courtroom of any kind where I could present evidence and challenge witnesses.”

Personally, I'm not overly familiar with the dating world, but I don't think a middle age man paying tens of thousands of dollars to high school girls after "hanging out" with him or for "being awesome" and asking them to bring drugs is exactly a normal occurrence.

Going by the campaign ads airing on TV, the number one issue for the GOP this election by far was the threat of sexual assault by BOYS IN GIRLS' BATHROOMS!! So clearly one of their first agenda items after being elected would be to appoint certified sexual predators to cabinet positions.

First they haven't the wit to understand we need the most intelligent people to stay atop the tech pyramid, where to survive and stay abreast of the latest developments mean military and civilian success, but then they think that those with knowledge should be bullied into doing their homework for them as they did them in high school. This isn't high school anymore. Those with intelligence can go anywhere they want in the world and they don't have to help you make the grade anymore.
Second, by not recognizing that we need the brightest, they doom us to a downward spiral of losing our place in the world. Blade Runner slums will be out and idiocracy in for our future. Keep shooting us in the foot you MAGA geniuses. All it takes is a willingness to buddy up to Putin and Kim and they will take care of us right?
