I was reading yesterday about Gorbachev, and came about a part that mentioned that the USSR took Crimea from Russia in 1954 and gave it to Ukraine.
So I guess they do have some claims to that part of land.
That's the same problem of the "artificial state" of Ukraine: URSS is an "artificial state" and if you want a "national state" you must give Crimea to tatars, no to russians (if you believe there's a russian "nationality" just tell me how tatars can be descendents of varangians, LOL)
Like every modern state, the state has no ties to "nationality" (a concept born to oppose to european aristocracy families "domination" all over Europe and now used against the same institutions born from that past opposition.....so we got people like Girkin or Putin talking about
Рюриковичи in SPITE of the origin of the term).
But Putin begs to differs, 'cause he and his elites are in love with a self-crafted&adapted '800s racism: there are "anglo-saxons" and "russians" (either "vikings" populations), the others are just people to be subjected. "Ukrainians" are "russians traitors" wanting to live like "anglo-saxons" so they must be purged.
That's in a nutshell (never undestood why anglo-saxons :D create this kind of expressions) the
ruski mir and Izborsky Club ideology. Remember thar Prokhanov is a deranged cosmist and Dugin a deranged anti-communist that loves the idea of "Eurasia". On top of this you got all the nazbol (yes NAZ-BOL) movement you can consider like stalinist isolationists.
Putin calls this "state" but in fact the correct word is "colonial empire" or if you prefer the "anglo-saxons" term.....
commonwealth. He just refuses to use "colonial" (ahah) because it's no "sea domination" but "land domination" (so no colonies, what a smartypants.....) in a very nazi lebensraum fashion.
Don't know what Gorbachev enters in all of this, you mean Krushev......Krushev was raised in Donetsk.

You think too much high of US government power in routing&controlling trade.
Just see how nVidia still sells AI accelerators in China
Also, there are Texas Instruments chips in both sides' weapons systems, including recently-made ones.

Market always finds its ways.....it's why it's stupid to think "Western Propaganda" is needed to colonize something. Maybe it helps, but it's really not needed. And no, one can act as a "protector of better interests" (like Putin does and eventually he really believes this) but one day the death comes and the market will always be there nonetheless.
Hell, I'm talking to a russian on a THIEF (a US gaming brand/product) forum.....globalization is real and can't be avoided.

Just think of how much the EU lost with the Russian blockade, they used to export their products to Russia and now they cannot earn that profit.

I wanted to know if he was against Putin, and he was against him.
Part of the article extended to that 1954 land exchange.

No, we used to import fertilizer (and gas), our main export partner is USA.
You really can't compare Russia market with USA market, they're 2 different planets.....nothing changed from the
export point of view.
Moscow and Saint Petersburg (I still prefer
Leningrad :p ) apart.

So, after Republicans in the House bitched and moaned about the border security bill, the Senate took all the border stuff out there, left only the foreign aid, and passed it. Now the House is bitching that the foreign aid bill doesn't have enough things about the border in it. How much more transparent can you get?

West export to Russia=Moscow+Saint Petersburg people (or other big cities)
It's why multinationals did just sell for symbolic price (1$ / 1E) to Russia state their operations in Russia (see Renault, etc. etc.)

Biden blasts Trump for his 'shocking' and 'un-American' NATO comments
"The whole world heard it. The worst thing is, he means it," Biden said.
President Joe Biden on Tuesday blasted former President Donald Trump's comments that he would "encourage" Russia to "do whatever the hell they want" to NATO-aligned countries that are "delinquent" -- calling them "shocking" and "un-American."
"The former president has set a dangerous, and shockingly, frankly un-American signal to the world," Biden said in remarks at the White House.
