I'm glad she's putting the heat on Giuliani, Powell, et al. This was way bigger than Trump.
I'm especially happy that she charged the fake electors who didn't cooperate.

That whole thing is just bonkers -- people forged election documents and tried to subvert the election process on a massive scale that's, from what I'm able to tell, kind of unprecedented in US history. How have they not already been charged and on trial? But I guess better late than never.

Our justice system normally moves pretty slowly, and the bigger the case, the longer it takes. Trump's re-emergence as the front runner in the coming election is forcing it to speed up. Perhaps that's why Jack Smith only charged Trump instead of going after all of them. I think he's trying to get the trial over before the election. Fani Willis isn't. RICO cases usually take a while.

The elements for RICO are pretty tight, because it's about membership in an organization, you have to tie it down to specific acts advancing criminal business with "beyond reasonable doubt" levels of evidence, and then they're doing that for 19 people. But the payoff is you get a mandatory sentence 5 to 20 years.
It was originally made for organized crime, so it's kind of designed for low level folks to flip on the higher level people. But then you need to make the case airtight for them for that to work.
Mueller was already saying Trump runs his shop like his experience prosecuting organized crime in his report ages ago, speaking of the obstruction surrounding his 2016 campaign before he was even in office, and IIRC he was thinking about RICO charges already then.

Gutfield, the right-wing "equivalent" of Steven Colbert goes on rant, works out the reason we have too much crime - women.
(

Quote:
One of Fox News’ top hosts said that many of the world’s problems would be solved if women were to vanish from the planet.
Greg Gutfeld, the right-wing channel’s resident jester who was recently promoted to host his own prime time hour, made a series of brazenly sexist comments on Monday’s edition of “The Five” during a discussion on looting.
As surveillance video played showing a smash-and-grab that occurred over the weekend at a Los Angeles Nordstrom, Gutfeld went on a rant portraying women as soft on crime and effectively blaming the entire gender for supposed policies that would prevent such crimes from being committed.
“What would happen if all the women took a ladies week off and they went to Venus … How many of these problems would still exist?” Gutfeld wondered aloud.
Gutfeld, who allowed for the possibility that new problems would emerge in the absence of women, confidently argued that “smash and grabs” and “rampant recidivism” would “disappear.”

So he can get elected then pardon himself. :joke:

I mean, yes, but April 2025 would do. Maybe they're adding an extra year and hoping for a compromise.

DJT doxes Georgia Grand Jury. Unfortunately the names are published on the indictment but Rump is making sure his most violent minions are following up with pics, home addresses and death threats.
