There is a well-documented libertarian to fascist pipeline with many examples -- the Crying Nazi aka Christopher Cantwell being one of the perhaps more recognisable/famous ones.
I delved into the far right spaces in the US a couple of years ago and what I found was a horrific and widespread underbelly of hate and bigotry. There are so many brands and varieties of authoritarians of various stripes, and they all have a unmistakable fascistic bent to them. From the Southern Nationalists to the actual National Socialist Movement to Christian Identity to many, many others. And it's not like they have to come from a specific Italian region for people to call them for what they are. Hell, look at the MAGA movement (and arguably the wider US conservative culture in general) and how well it conforms to the 14 characteristics, whether it's Britt's or Eco's.
And yes, not all of them are presentable like Richard Spenser. But if you look at just the Unite the Right rally, these people were all marching together, whether uniformed/presentable or tattooed and unkempt.
Any fascist movement will also need thugs to spread fear and terror. If fascism ever gets more political power in the US, you can bet that these people will be at least tacit allies.
Exactly.
That's why everyone must be warned of the fascination dynamics fascism uses to get in the mind of the people (nationalism and ethno-nationalism being the first 2). Behind that
grandeur aspiration of the (un)holy communion between state and people there's just terror in its violent form.
Remember: a fascist LOVES to kill "for justice" because behind the doctrine there's a rooted inclination to violence and that's the real stimulus to fascism spreading: the idealistically driven justification of violence.

They've been peddling “Trump Bucks,” which are emblazoned with photos of the former president, and advertising them online as a kind of golden ticket that will help propel Trump's 2024 bid and make the “real patriots” who support him rich when cashed in.
John Amann told NBC News he bought $2,200 worth of Trump Bucks and other items over the past year only to discover they were worthless when he tried to cash them in at his local bank. So he's gone on Twitter to warn other Trump supporters not to fall for this scam.
Some people ... you wonder how they even operate as adults.
Quote:
Invest in a TRB membership card “issued by Donald Trump,” the ads from Patriots Dynasty, Patriots Future and USA Patriots claim, and the purchaser who spent, say, $99.99 on a “$10,000 Diamond Trump Bucks” bill will be able to cash it in for $10,000 at major banks and retailers like Walmart, Costco and Home Depot.
And that's of course the crux right there. Foolishness and greed.

Here's (
https://www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2023/05/will-the-trump-rebate-banking-system-accept-loomcoin) another aspect of the "Trump Bucks" story:
Quote:
In AI-generated promotional videos shared on social media and in chat groups, celebrities and politicians, including Trump, appear to endorse the scam.
In one, Trump appears to announce the launch of the TRB system on Fox News.
“Let's make America wealthy again,” the artificially generated voice of Trump says.
AI simulacra seem like they'll be a powerful tool in the hands of scammers.

Georgia GOP Chair Goes Full Flat-Earth, Says
Globes Are Part of a Conspiracy“Every store, you buy a globe. There's globes everywhere. Every movie, every TV show, news media — why? It doesn't make sense.”
Kandiss Taylor, a recently elected GOP District Chair in Georgia, would like to know why Big Globe won't stop shoving round-Earth propaganda down our throats.
In an interview with David Weiss (AKA “Flat Earth Dave”) and Matt Long on her “Jesus, Guns, and Babies” podcast, Taylor and her guests discussed biblical “evidence” that the Earth is actually flat as a pancake. “The people that defend the globe don't know anything about the globe,” said Weiss. “If they knew a tenth of what Matt and I know about the globe they would be Flat Earthers.”
“All the globes, everywhere” Taylor said later in the discussion. “I turn on the TV, there's globes in the background ... Everywhere there's globes. You see them all the time, it's constant. My children will be like ‘Mama, globe, globe, globe, globe' — they're everywhere.”
“That's what they do, to brainwash,” she added. “For me if it's not a conspiracy. If it is real, why are you pushing so hard everywhere I go? Every store, you buy a globe, there's globes everywhere. Every movie, every TV show, news media — why? More and more I'm like, it doesn't make sense.”
Note this person ran against Kemp for governor, got 3.7% of the vote to his 73%, then claimed it was rigged.

If it is real, why are you pushing so hard everywhere I go?
Because demoNcracy use this same argument "why are you pushing so hard" to pervert democracy.
If you're so-called "democrat" why you exclude fascists? Give fascists representation and when they will win.....democracy will be destroyed because it has fullfilled its function of mean to get power, thanks to this same pseudologic argument.

Guys like this would be funny, if they weren't ruining the country and getting filthy rich off it:
(

Quote:
U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin (OK-R) can't handle the truth. At a March Senate hearing, he told a witness to "shut your mouth." And today at a hearing on child care he proclaimed "No, I don't want reality," when a colleague asked him if he would allow a witness to answer a question.
The guy has amassed wealth somewhere between $31 million and $75 million, is a hardcore 2020 'truther' and also wants a blanket ban on all abortions.
Quote:
Mullin supports making abortion illegal in all circumstances, even in cases of rape, incest, or if the mother's life is at risk. During the 2022 Republican runoff debate, he claimed that if his wife's life were at risk during a pregnancy, neither he nor his wife would want to get an abortion.
So we can laugh at his call to keep reality out of politics, but the real deeper situation here is that he's getting rich off this kind of posing, and the human costs don't concern him, he just wants to keep pulling in the money and stick his fingers in his ears.

The Republican party keeps becoming more ridiculous. Every few years I have to recalibrate my sense of what's considered outrageous. And accompanying the Republicans I don't understand are the centrists I don't understand, who insist on "both sides" arguments and the unfailing value of negotiation.

Conservatives keep calling for an American dictator. Believe them.
This week, radio host and frequent Fox News guest Jesse Kelly wrote on Twitter that America “needs a dictator.” Kelly's assertion, part of a dialogue that included Covid denialism and warnings about “monstrous communists,” was met with an equally chilling declaration that he quickly agreed with: “Weimar problems eventually lead to Weimar solutions.”
The issue is that while Jesse Kelly is right to agree there are parallels to the Weimar problems, his stance is basically "hurry up with the dictator plz" instead of "maybe we should work to avoid that".

The right completely unironically wants to be Nazis without saying they're Nazis.
Loonies: You know who supported gun control? Hitler!
Normal people: Er, he didn't ban guns, he took them away from Jews and other groups he wanted to repress politically.
Loonies: Well then we should take them away from trans people!
