Lawrence O'Donnell brilliantly parses the text that allegedly got Tucker Carlson fired and explains why the real reason is probably much, much worse than Tucker's now infamous and public text. Tucker's reveals that his heart was glad as he watched a gang of Trumpists beat a solitary ANTIFA protestor on January 6th, hoping that they would kill him.
Video is region-blocked for me but I'll try a workaround later.
BTW saw someone ask why they'd care about this private text, when he's probably said worse on air. My take is related to how Fox won a lawsuit by arguing that a "reasonable person" cannot be expected to take anything Tucker Carlson says on air literally. The argued a "Poe's Law" defense basically. But the existence of those private texts undermines that.
Though, I think the critical line was "white men don't fight like that" or "that's not how white men fight", i forget the exact wording.

Here's the text which O'Donnell was talking about:
Quote:
"A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington," Carlson texted a producer. "A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living s--- out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It's not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they'd hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it."
In what was supposed to be a moment of self reflection, Tuckums followed up with this:
Quote:
"Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn't good for me. I'm becoming something I don't want to be," Carlson continued. "The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I'm sure I'd hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn't gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don't care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?"
As O'Donnell points out, the final line is a rhetorical question. It is in fact an assertion the Tucker IS better than the kid he gleefully cheered the beating of. Given the totality of Carlson's vile vomit, he is better because he's white.

If someone is "antifa" then he showed up to attack other people. I mean, don't show up looking for a fight and complain that you got in a fight. I've also seen multiple "antifa" guys gang up on old people, women, anybody they can. Smashing people from behind with bike locks, skateboards, the whole nine yards.

Do you even know the meaning of 'antifa', fgs?? 'Antifa' stands for
anti-fascism. Antifa or anti-fascism is
not an organization, it's not a club and it doesn't have a members list, chapters or hold monthly meetings. Antifa or anti-fascism is an ideal, a value or belief. All red-blooded Americans
should be anti-fascism. If they aren't, that means they're pro-fascism and are obviously living in the wrong country; perhaps China, Russia or North Korea would be more to their liking. Helpful Hint: Our military is antifa and has fought against fascism in all our previous wars. Google it. *smh*
RippedPhreak on 9/5/2023 at 16:15
Antifa does have forums, mailing lists, subreddits for organization and so forth. Hundreds of trust fund kids in black skinny jeans and ski masks don't just spontaneously show up in one place, out of thin air. Yes, it is organized.
And a name means nothing. Usually your type are the first ones to rush to assure me that the "National Socialist Party" had nothing to do with socialism. I guess if I start a group called the "Freedom and Justice Party" that's based on murdering anyone I don't like, I could say "Jeez, look at the name of the party, obviously we're the Good Guys...google it fgs."
Interesting that you are so pro-US military. Were you cheering the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan? Do you think Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, the Bay of Pigs thing...all those were justified operations to take out fascists? How about the Banana Wars in Central America?
Edit: Iran's theocratic government could be construed as fascists, I guess you must have approved of Trump's killing of a top Iranian general?

This is like arguing that right-wing is an organisation, because there are right-wing forums, right-wing mailing lists, right-wing subreddits, and, as it turns out, right-wing death squads.
RippedPhreak on 9/5/2023 at 17:35
The whole "right-wing" does not send out messages to members in a certain city saying to show up in X place at X time, wearing uniform clothing and carrying weapons, for the purpose of doing X. I mean, the "Atlanta Antifa" coordinated an attack to disrupt the construction of a police facility. I guess you can go tell Atlanta Antifa that they don't exist.
The whole "antifa doesn't exist" is a laughable fiction that tries to cover up that they are a Democrat-party backed (and funded) paramilitary force, sent out to keep conservatives from gathering in public.
Again, it's pretty silly to send a group out to attack people, then cry when they get punched back. Don't worry, I'm sure anyone who defends themselves against antifa will get arrested since they are a state-backed force.

I never tried to say the Proud Boys or whatever group didn't exist.

Since the conservatives they come out to attack are Proud Boys and other racist and fascist organizations (as in Charlotte) are you saying all conservatives are racist?
Also where is this proof that ANTIFA is funded by the Democrat party?
