The MAGA strategy is definitely to try and gut the GOP from the inside, and in Congress they do that by merely voting against everything.
Bipartisan bill to actually save trafficked children? MAGA all voted it down. That didn't affect the outcome so you could ask why they bothered: it's practice and demonstrating that they're a bloc willing to vote against everything.
That, and the McCarthy stuff isn't about McCarthy, it's further practice and showing the other GOP people that they can block their bills, unless they get concessions such as placing MAGA extremists on all the right committees, so they can exert more influence to undermine the GOP.

Number of trafficked children that would actually have been saved? Zero. If they want to stop human trafficking, they could actually police the border.
Yes, please destroy the GOP, that is indeed a fine goal.

The Freedom Caucus are emboldened by previous victories. They got Boehner to resign mid-term in 2015, and they blocked the planned succession from Boehner to Kevin McCarthy. I suppose they think they can do the same thing again. Except there's no Paul Ryan figure to step in this time.
I know he just lost again, but I really think McCarthy is going to win this, if not today then over the weekend. The holdouts got what they're going to get, and if they don't take it and move on, I think they will see the party and donors come down on them. Some of them are nuts, but they still want to get re-elected, and if they fuck this up, they are going to have big bullseyes on their backs next year.
Here are the remaining Republicans against McCarthy as of the 12th vote:
Andy Biggs
Lauren Boebert
Eli Crane
Matt Gaetz
Bob Good
Andy Harris
Matt Rosendale
He needs to flip three more unless someone is absent or votes present.
EDIT: Andy Harris voted for McCarthy. Matt Rosendale did not, but is expected to be next. The others are dug in. It's turning out to be a good fundraising opportunity for some of them, taking advantage of the national spotlight.

The holdouts voted Present in round 15. I guess the chaos is over until the next omnibus spending bill.

I'm hearing they can't even pass the basic house rules package. :p

I heard it took 15 votes to make the easiest decision they face in this session.

But power to do what? I think the writing on the wall is that the radical contingent is going to pull this ridiculous obstruction ritual on every vote on everything. And if Cheney et al's experience is any guide, it's the moderates that are going to be purged in the upcoming elections, so that contingent is just going to grow over time, making the problem worse.
The power to impeach Biden. Nevermind there is no cause. It's payback time baby! It's crazy wack-a-mole time! Bring Pelosi up on charges of... uh... something! Put Hilary in jail for... uh... Benghazi! Harass anyone who was on the January sixth committee and instate Trump as dictator for life! And then just keep all the Trump family lined up when he dies! Own the libs! YEAH! You only think you have seen crazy. Wait till Buh huh durrrrrr Bobert heads a committee! Pandadurrrrrmonium!

On paper GOP voters are supposed to be exasperated by this bs, and that's the story behind the red trickle, but it's only had the perverse effect of making the clown caucus double down and the radicals only get more radical. And good lord the next presidential election will start grinding into motion this year on top of everything else. What a shitshow.
What they are exasperated by is the inability to make libs vote for Republicans. That's it. That's all. We should all come together as a nation... under the Republican banner. Sweet togetherness. With everyone voting for Trump.
I mean, sure, there is also the vote to let Ukraine die because Russia is really just a good country wanting to elect Trump. Just don't stand next to any open windows. Or drink any tea. And surely we can all agree that journalists need to be killed.

LONG LIVE THE TRUMP DYNASTY!
But anyone in the trumpian Far Right knows that Ivanka is now jew or not (and so for the Halakhah ALL the her descendants are jew) ? :D
Because, I mean,
the US Far Right seems to me more schizophreniac and disfunctional than ANY other Far right in the World, just competing with NK standard. It lacks any kind of consistency, TOTALLY.

I think of tensor calculus is a 3fer deal, i.e., a 3-for-1 toolkit, as in: speaking of the small list of "Great Truths" of the world, three right at the top would be General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, and Machine Learning, and tensor calc lets you do the lion's share of all three.
Oh, where does it show up in machine learning?
