We're mixing wires between these two threads now, but I found it really interesting in the last 24 hours my right wing kookoratti network had a sea change from pro-Russia & Putin to very much pro-Ukraine, pro-Zelensky, anti-Putin, etc. Granted still unhinged, blaming Biden for being weak unlike Zelensky and causing the conflict by not being anti-Russian enough, etc.
What I found funny is that they're just so programmed. They see images of people defending their homeland from aggression and they rally. In this case, thank goodness, it's working in the proper direction at least. If Putin managed to do one thing, it was to display aggression so naked and openly he doesn't leave even rank & file Trumpers any choice but to see it for what it is.
The irony is too thick of course. Trump was exactly impeached because of his tirade against the Ukrainian president & demands for a baseless investigation which Zelensky rightfully dismissed out of hand. And Trump's adoration of Putin is legendary, including in this very conflict.
I doubt the ones that posted all these pro-Ukraine memes even realize the rift that they've opened up. I'm sure they think they're still in sync with pro-Russia Trump & the fridge GOP. But I think this rift might mean something is changing in the GOP depending on how things develop.

As for the Hunter Biden stuff, the conspiracy theory version is "Hunter Biden was involved with Burisma, and Burisma was under part of corruption investigations".
However this inverts the timeline. The actual story was that the Burisma gas company was already under investigation, and they were cooperating with authorities to try and resolve it, then AFTER that they brought in new foreign members of the board. They needed reputable outsiders to present a clean image. Hunter Biden was offered the job. Other people offered the job included an ex-EU president I believe.
That was the whole point of why he was hired. It would make ZERO sense to appoint corrupt people to the board AFTER you were under investigation, that only puts those people in the direct line of sight of the investigators. The sensible thing would be to stock the board with people who know ZERO about the corruption. That way, they can't accidentally let anything slip, and the investigators can't dig into their background and dealings, since there's nothing to dig into. You then just tell the board members whatever you want on a need-to-know basis.
So, the worst-case scenario (that actually makes sense) is that Hunter Biden was just a well meaning idiot with a useful name, and most importantly, NO connections in Ukraine, so they hired him to present a squeaky-clean image to the investigators.

Meanwhile, in the US:

As many involved in the so-called Trucker Convoys—the vast majority of vehicles taking part aren't big rigs—enter the final stretch of their long haul, the group, aiming to end COVID-19 health measures, are disappointed by the lack of eyes on them, particularly after the Canadian version captured the attention of right-wing Americans for weeks.
[...]
“People now say: Well, those ‘Freedom Truckers' sure picked a bad week to try and get attention for being victims of tyranny,” wrote one Trucker fan annoyed by the war in Ukraine. “They are starting to twist the events by saying oh our suffering is somehow much less. NO IT IS NOT!”
[...]
“What we see (in Ukraine) is not bravery, it's adrenaline and rush. Real bravery comes from a good dose of wisdom. The people fighting in wars are not brave but pumped with adrenaline and lacking wisdom...” the person behind the Trucker's for Freedom channel wrote. “This is bravery. Support the truckers.”

It's mindbending at least.
"Good dose of wisdom".....which dose? Second? Third? I don't trust this "W.I.S.D.O.M." compound :D

It's s real dilemma for all the pro-Russia figures. They suddenly find their previous stances aren't going over very well among their audiences. Even Tucker Carlson was forced to backpedal after having previously said that he is rooting for Russia in the conflict.

Oh yeah a lot of "American patriots" (typically accounts with usernames like john123) completely vanished across the board, whether it's about Russia, Covid, LGBTQ+ issues... The sudden silence is deafening.

What a TOTALLY UNEXPECTED thing.....right?
Pyrian on 3/3/2022 at 01:25
Honestly... Yeah? It's another front on which we thought Russia was more robust than it actually is.
