To give you some indication, today the folks from my hometown were very upset about Ted Cruz's performance in (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=yLr1m14NO50) this video, because our state's senator had the gall to call the Jan. 6 attack on the Capital a "violent terrorist act", instead of, you know, patriots trying to keep the election from being stolen by Biden. And they're universally praising Tucker for calling his BS out and calling for Cruz to be purged from the party.
They were particularly livid that he qualified his statement that only those using violence against the police were the terrorists, which they considered him flip flopping to appear moderate -- we know he really meant the mob of protestors storming the Capital -- and this is no time for moderation & he's just stabbing his party in the back and trying to weasle his way out of it now, or something like that, I guess.
Keep in mind Ted Cruz himself is about as crackpot rightwing as a kook can get. So if he needs to be purged for being a communist sympathizer that dares to question T***p, imagine where that leaves the mainstream party. Anyway, if you had any illusions that the GOP rank & file thinks the Jan. 6 insurrection was anything less than patriots defending the republic from the enemies of T***pism, now you know better. Fuck's sake.
