Tells you more about the person celebrating than the person who has died.
I would argue that defending the honor of a man who mocked AIDS victims and the disabled, who described welfare recipients as apes, who defended slavery as "keeping the streets safe after dark," who laid the foundations for 40 years of right-wing propaganda, who is point A of a direct line between filling the void left by the death of the Fairness Doctrine to the insurrection on 1/6, says a lot about the person doing the defending. In this case, it's all stuff we already know, though.
Rush Limbaugh was objectively a fucking monster. A genuinely shit human with zero redeeming value. At least Sean Connery was a decent actor. Rush didn't even have that. He was a voice for angry, disaffected white supremacists who were done pretending to be polite and just wanted to burn some crosses. Every word out of his mouth actively made the world a worse place to live in. He had a direct hand in the brain-fucking of the American electorate. Fuck him, and fuck anyone who defends him. His grave deserves to be a gender neutral bathroom.

Once again, hatred blinds you.

defending the honor of a man
The guy was clearly a Class A Arsehole. Say it all you want. I don't think he had any honour at all actually.
But for people like this their death is a relief, not a cause for celebration. That's just cheap.
I guess you'll be celebrating Trump's death too then? When it comes.

Just be honest here, how far does this go? Would you have been upset at people celebrating the death of Hitler?
Yakoob on 18/2/2021 at 06:34
For the record, I would like to ask you all to celebrate my death when it comes. Please fill my casket with salsa and have chips nearby. None of that moping around shit.

Why don't you just read my posts, bookworm?

For someone who threw a truly epic meltdown because I wouldn't give you the answer you wanted even though I'd already answered, you sure are bad at answering questions yourself. (Except when they're directed at other people, apparently.)

I'm always surprised when people are happy someone died.
Not like a murderer or war criminal or something, which I might understand, but someone like this that people just don't like.
Maybe this will help you.

Yeah, but that's bullshit. I know you, and I know that you would find excuses for just about anyone, no matter how terrible, in the name of a civility that you yourself don't even pretend to engage in. How do I know? From reading your posts. You're literally saying you see Rush as just "someone that people just don't like." You really are that naive and privileged that you don't see the immense damage he's done.
This thread would not even exist if not for him.
SubJeff on 18/2/2021 at 10:56
Dude, you had your answer. Don't try and make more of it than it is.
I don't celebrate deaths, generally, no matter how much I disliked the person. Maybe it's because I've personally seen so much death , first hand, front and center, and the fallout for friends and family in the moment. It's different when I hear a bunch of trainee suicide bombers blew themselves up in bomb making class of course. They are dreadful people intent on the murder of innocents and that's actually funny.
You can't actually link Rush to deaths can you? He's not done anything illegal in that sense, despite talking a lot of hateful rubbish for a long time. That's freedom of speech for you and you loonie lefty nuts seem to want to curtail that.
He was an ass. Be better than him. Aim higher.

You should probably listen to the latest Waking Up podcast episode.
But you probably think Sam Harris and Ricky Gervais are alt right over-privileged bigots.
On the point of privilege. I recognise that I am privileged, compared to the majority of people in the world today and even the majority of people here in the UK. Covid measures haven't affected my work (on the contrary I've been able to work from home for almost a year, which has been nice, and I even get to claim a small amount of tax relief because of it). But it shouldn't be down to privileged people to hold a lantern for decency. Feeling actual happiness that someone you didn't like died is a very base emotion imho, much like enjoying seeing someone get seriously injured. There's something a little inhumane about it, a little sick, and it should just be armchair observers like me who recognise this.
