I'm gonna leave it open at least while Trump's still in office. After that, we'll see what's what, and go from there.
We should let this thread reach page 666, then lock it and pin it at the top of the forum as a warning for all future generations.

Don't forget that Biden will be shot before March. Within 3 weeks of his inauguration. Prediction by Trump.
Couldn't believe Trump would actually have gone there. But of course he did.

That's why they're talking about the 25th Amendment, right? Three weeks. Three weeks in, Joe's shot! Let's go, Kamala, you ready? Most liberal person in the Senate. She makes Bernie Sanders look like a serious conservative.

If Donald Trump hadn't already proven he's unfit to be president, he's proving it now. I see article after article about Joe's plans and goals, how he's in the process of choosing his cabinet members and people to replace Trump's appointees (he's even considering some Republicans for his cabinet, btw), how Joe's already got a handle on how he plans to go about fighting this epidemic and how he's already prioritized the first several issues he's going to tackle and in the process of considering key people he's going to appoint to help with those issues (and I doubt the My Pillow Guy is one of those under consideration).
And then I see twice as many articles about Trump refusing to concede (and he's doing so in the manner of a petulant, spoiled child), about his threats to, well, just about everybody and everything, about his dire warnings (most recent one is that Joe will be shot and Kamala will take over, which he seems to see as a threat) and his continued attempts to escalate violence by his supporters (Trump is calling for a civil war). He's still totally ignoring the major issue of the pandemic; last Saturday, 11/07, we added another 126,742 new cases here in the US with another 1041 deaths that day but he still went golfing and he's still claiming that 'we've rounded a corner' in regards to the epidemic. I remember how within a few weeks after Trump's inauguration in 2016 his new administration was described as chaotic, with lots of back-biting and in-fighting and how no one within his administration could agree with other members on any issues our country was facing at the time. From everything I've been reading/watching, it looks like Joe has solid plans for his new administration while Trump's administration is still in a state of flux and chaos.
I'm tired, kids. I'm tired of life in Trump's insane asylum (no, I'm not suicidal). I grow even more weary when I read of all the ways that Trump can fuck up our country in the next couple of months and I can totally see that happening. Last week I read an article saying that because of Trump's bigly loss in the election he's adopted a 'scorched earth' attitude and that worries me; he's already known to be petty, vindictive and destructive, afterall. His psychologist niece, Mary Trump, predicts that he'll 'start breaking things ... with a vengeance' and 'he'll also “go as far as he can to delegitimize the new administration, then he'll pass pardons that will demoralize us — and sign a flurry of executive orders', which wouldn't surprise me in the least. Trump has until Jan. 20th next year to wreak havoc and that scares me as I know it scares a lot of people. I have to wonder if at this point, whether there are any brave souls within his administration who will try to curb Trump's destructive intent or are they all going to continue to let him run wild and amok like they have for the past four years?
Our country may have breathed a collective sigh of relief last Saturday, but I get the feeling we'll all be taking a deep, apprehensive breath in the coming days.
NOTE: Due to a recent stroke, my anxiety level is high and I tend to be overly-emotional sometimes, but I needed to vent.

You can complain about Trump's ideas and believes. But even if those we're crazy, he still would have had a big problem from day one. Trump is an amateur. (Biden is a professional). Normally, when an amateur is the figurehead of a larger organization, that larger organization will help and support the figurehead to do a good job. And to look good.
Trump doesn't like and doesn't trust the Republican Party politician's. And the Republican politicians don't like and don't trust Trump. So Trump has been on his own since the first day. An amateur without help. A stubborn, dumb amateur, with an ego 1000x bigger than would be justified. With no experience. No help. No friends.
What could go wrong?

the people were faced with 2 crappy options 4 years ago, and didn't know who to pick. So they chose the lesser of 2 evils (in their minds). Make sure that people like him don't even get to lead a party, let alone be a runner in a presidential election
Russia has a lot of experience in what you're suggesting.
Gryzemuis on 9/11/2020 at 16:59
Nemyax is correct. There's no way to catch that idea into a decent law. What are you gonna put in as requirements to run for office ? Needs to do an IQ-test and score 120 or higher? Needs to do an EQ-test (empathy) and score above average?
It's the responsibility of the political parties to put forward decent candidates. The Republican Party showed in 2016 what a bunch of clowns they are, that Trump could just walk in and grab power. But on the other hand, I didn't like it either that the Bush clan (including people like Rumsfeld and Cheney) had such a firm grip on the Republican Party from the seventies (Nixon era) until recently.
I also blame the Democrats for their poor performance. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden? Those two elderly people were the best candidates you could nominate? 350 Million people in the USA, and there's nobody else qualified to be president? Someone younger, someone with a less tainted history? This time it ended well, but just nearly. If some details had been different (e.g. no covid in an election year), Trump would have been president again.
The best thing you could hope for, is that 70 million of your country-men and women would not vote for a fascist. However, it turns out that is wishful thinking.

Instant-runoff voting would make it harder for extremists to rise to power and greatly reduce the impact of the political parties' choices of candidate. But neither side will support it, for exactly that reason. The system that made us choose between Biden or Trump was working as intended.
Nameless Voice on 9/11/2020 at 18:02
Sadly, the above is exactly true. Fixing the electoral system would make it much less likely for extremists to get into power, but the system is currently working as the large parties intend, because they'd rather have a ~50% chance of power, than risk upsetting the system and maybe losing their influence.
Also, if they had to choose between the two, the Democratic party would generally rather have someone like Trump in power than someone like Sanders.
Here in Ireland, we have Single Transferable Vote, in which you list your chosen candidates in order of preference, so your vote is never wasted if you vote for who you really want to get in, even if you know they are unlikely to win. Strategic voting is not necessary.
As a result, while our politicians are not great, we also have no extremists here - or, at least none with any actual chance of power.
It's a great system, one of my favourite things about this country.
I came across a good video recently which explains it much better than I could, while also explaining why it helps make elections fairer and less extreme.

The other thing, which I'm sure I've said before, is that the whole concept of a president with that kind of power is bizarre.
In most other countries, the leader is a prime minister, chosen by the parliament, rather than directly elected by the people. As such, the parliament can just vote to remove him/her again and replace them with someone else, if they prove unfit for the role.

My question is, do we have to fill out paperwork to get our Adrenochrome supply started in January or do they just send it to the same address they sent my multiple mail in ballots.
