The Washington Examiner is a nigh on propaganda site, and Lauren Witzke is a QAnon nutter, once avowed flat earther, and ex-Trump campaign organizer, and is currently merely a senate nominee, and thus won't have access to the type of information she claims to have.
You pick interesting company, Nbohr.
...what the hell is happening to my country?
Thirith on 21/10/2020 at 07:15
"... is happening"? Where the hell have you spent the last four years?
SubJeff on 21/10/2020 at 07:30
Aww, how cute. You think this is a result of the last 4 years.
This stuff has been going on forever in the USA. It's a conspiracy nation and the foundations for the last four years are deep rooted in the culture.

Honestly the thing that appalls me the most is how lame the conspiracies have gotten. We used to have shit like the Illuminati, MK Ultra, chemtrails, lizard people. Now we have QAnon and the dogpill.
(don't look up the dogpill)

Aww, how cute. Facile snark.
No, I don’t think that this is a result of the last four years, but I do think that a) it has escalated over the last four years and b) it has never been as readily apparent even to the most disinterested as it has during the last four years.

Fox to Address Coronavirus Crisis with Three-Part Series on Hunter BidenNEW YORK (The Borowitz Report)—Determined to address the “No. 1 concern of the American people during the coronavirus crisis,” Fox News Channel announced on Thursday that it would air a three-part prime-time series on Hunter Biden.
The series, to be he co-hosted by Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Rudy Giuliani, will attempt to soothe the anxieties of Fox viewers who have suddenly been plunged into uncertainty about the activities of Joe Biden's son.
“People are trapped inside their homes, they're worried, they're scared, and they don't know where to turn for accurate information about Hunter Biden,” Hannity said. “We're here to fill that need.”
Giuliani said that the three-part series was necessary because “the deep state” had limited Americans' access to essential Hunter Biden facts during the pandemic crisis.
“If you go on the C.D.C. Web site, you won't find a single mention of Hunter Biden, Burisma, or CrowdStrike,” Giuliani said. “It's a disgrace.”
In the first episode of the series, the Fox hosts will attempt to answer what Carlson called “the most important question on our viewers' minds: Did Hunter Biden cause the coronavirus?”
“As of now, there is no evidence that Hunter Biden caused the coronavirus,” Carlson said. “However, there is also no evidence that he didn't cause it. That's the angle we're going to be focussing on.”

I don't know if the US is any more crazy than ever because I remember growing up classmates with dads in militias spouting off batshit conspiracies about the Jews and the coming WWIII race war. It's just that the crazy fringe is empowered and organized via social media in a way it hasn't been before.
Actually, what has always been the strength of the US going back to the beginning (and this is one of the major punchlines studying political history) is that most Americans -- unlike most Europeans throughout the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries -- were largely apathetic about politics on the national level and focused all their energies on really small ambitions at the local level. They honestly didn't have the imagination for national action or systematic change. That's probably what's changed most that's brought about the charged environment we have now.

I love this piece.
This (emphasis mine) "People see our shocking Trump moment—this post-truth, “alternative facts” moment—as some inexplicable and crazy new American phenomenon.
But what's happening is just the ultimate extrapolation and expression of mind-sets that have made America exceptional for its entire history." is what I've been saying for ages.
I posted this elsewhere on t'internet:
"...Trump isn't the cause of any American problems, but rather is the pinnacle, the apogee, the zenith and the nadir of American culture."
I hope you guys manage to vote him out, I really do. I doubt it though. It may be too late for you.
