so the Republican strategy is to suppress the vote of the other side.
...
I've always opposed compulsory voting on civil liberty grounds, but I'm starting to wonder about that.
They would just suppress harder and then prosecute you for not voting whilst the polling station was on fire

Oh dear.
Are you sure you understand this? Equality of opportunity is not the same as equality of outcome. However, maternity is a special case and up to a point allowances have to be made because without that... well it's illogical.

Rather than expect others to arrive at the same definitions you have selected for these terms, then deriding them for misunderstanding your choices, maybe you should provide your definitions first. That would be "logical".

Social Libertarian is not a thing. Libertarians are Unicorns. Colourful idea but I have yet to meet anyone wearing the label who is anywhere close.

I was responding to the "I'm not a TERF, because..." more than the second part actually, though they have to be read together for the proper facepalm. Claiming not to be a TERF because you're also a bit disappointing about women in general is an
interesting approach, I will say that. I guess (at the risk of setting off another gross umpteen-page circlejerk between you and SD of Questionable British Takes About Trans People) I'm happy to just call you a transphobe and/or transmisogynist if you feel like those terms are a better fit.
As far as understanding the opportunity versus outcomes thing, yeah, I know what the general story is there, unless you're using some arcane perspective on the terms which I guess is far from impossible. I'm too hungover (big election night, the bad guys got a good hiding) to get into the proper women's studies discussion of it all with you, but in general equality of opportunity can only accomplish so much. To give an example of some of where I'm coming from, this stuff doesn't just operate on an individual level - the more women you have in a profession, the worse that profession as a whole is treated and paid relative to other professions of comparable skill, difficulty, and risk. There was a big court case here about pay along those lines, rest home carers were being paid less than gardeners (by the same company) for no clear reason, but there was a substantial gender disparity between the jobs. If you look at the pay and prospects for different careers you can see some of these effects over time - as more women started getting jobs in administration it stopped being a good pathway into management proper; computer programming became considerably more respected once it was no longer the "women's work" of computer jobs; as a general rule, as the gender balance of a field shifts, the pay gets better or worse for
everyone in that field. Equality of opportunity can't fully solve problems like that.

I agree with a lot of your take on equality of opportunity. And I agree it doesn't fix everything, hence my statement about maternity.
I'm not a tranphobe. Stop being a dick.

"I'm not a transphobe," he says, after an entire thread where he was throwing a temper tantrum about a shitty author facing consequences for being a transphobe.
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, and makes gender essentialist arguments like a duck...
