Did any of us think it was gonna be any different?
Lord Dampnut could sell nuclear secrets to Iran and there wouldn't be 20 votes in the Senate to convict him.
If he were to
waltz heave his fat ass over to the National Archives and take a big steaming dump on the Constitution, his supporters would be high-fiving each other over how he's triggering libs and the quote unquote elites.
And of course Republicans are trying to shut the trial down as fast as possible to try to wash their hands of it. With the recent Bolton book revelations, there's no telling how much is yet to hit the fan.

It's not just the book. He wants to testify directly in front of the senate.
His testimony is terrible for Trump because he corroborates everything the previous witnesses have said, and the Republicans can't write it off as hearsay, because he was Trump's own National Security Advisor, and had first hand knowledge of everything going on. The Republicans won't be able to defend against him without looking terrible, because he's born and bred one of their own, a once regular fixture on Fox News, and a stalwart defender of the neoconservative way of life.
All they've been able to do thus far is say he's testifying because he wants to up his book sales. Maybe so, but he'll be testifying under oath. If he's lying to drive attention to himself at Trump's expense, then charge him with perjury, and put him under the jail.
If they don't allow to testify though, then it'll straight up look like a coverup to protect the president from facing criminal liabilities, and the entire Republican party are co-conspirators. Right now, they're saying they don't want to call new witnesses because the factwork and testimonies should've been started and finished in the House. That's a hard sell though, given that the Republican defense is made up by the very people who pushed the Clinton impeachment, and they themselves forwarded three witnesses, and introduced something like 9000 pages of new evidence during his Senate hearing.
It's really not looking good for them. They barely even have plausible deniability by this point. Not that this will stop Trump from walking away scot free, and running again in 2020.

This evening they tried again to assert Trump was right to hold up funding to Ukraine because Biden is somehow unspecified crooked for having a son who took a job he shouldn't have. They even called it nepotism but how someone being hired by someone who is not kin is nepotism is beyond me. Despite Biden getting rid of the prosecutor who would not prosecute Barisma, or any other crook, he is somehow a crook for doing so. Of course all of this is stated while simultaneously claiming Trump did not hold up funding.
They are quite slippery in their statements too. They keep saying Trump gave the promised funding before the investigation started which is technically true. What they don't say is it was not released until the whistle blowers complaint was filed. As long as you drop the TV before the investigation starts on your robbery you are A okay I guess.

republicans are tied to trump just like clinton was tied to the democrats, I don't see trump being removed or voted out of office.

All things considered I would rather be tied to someone getting a BJ.

Whoever put Pam Bondi in charge of arguing the Ukraine part must be severely regretting it by now. Her performance was one of the worst even by the current "TV lawyers pandering to Fox viewers" standards.
Also, funny how Lord Dampnut, out of all the corruption that happens in Ukraine, just happened to focus on one specific company where his political opponent's son happened to be a board member. I mean, what are the odds on that.
And after all that I still don't know what Hunter Biden's crime was supposed to be.

Besides, he was nobody of significance and worked there only for a brief time. Lord Dampnut doesn't even know him.
I knew Bolton would end up on one of the QAnon's crowd's ever growing flowcharts sooner or later, but I didn't expect Fox to be one to spearhead it. I do love how anyone who doesn't bend over and kiss Trump's ass somehow ends up being part of...
...The Leftist Deep State Conspiracy. BUM BUM BUUUUUUMMMMMM!
Of course Bolton is connected to Romney and Comey. THEY'RE ALL IN THE SAME GODDAMN PARTY, YOU STUPID SHITS! THEY PROBABLY EVEN GET THE SAME NEWSLETTERS! JESUS CHRIST ON A CRACKER!
As for nepotism and cronyism, it's shitty, but it's not illegal. Good thing too, cuz that would just be something else Trump could be charged with.

Hunter didn't commit a crime, other than being hired to a position he was wholly unqualified for simply for his connections. The Republicans are arguing it was Biden Sr. who broke the law, abusing his powers of office for the benefit of his son and his new company. It's roughly the same accusation Trump is being charged with now.
There is a massive conflict of interests there, but...well, we've already been over this time and again. In digest, it looks terrible, but it was more than likely above board, given that the Ukrainian anti-corruption push was a bipartisan effort, and the entirety of congress and the Executive branch was well aware of his actions and reasoning.
Starker on 28/1/2020 at 02:23
Also, wasn't it the executive branch that tasked him with the effort in the first place as official US policy? Not like he just decided to do it on his own.
