World wide the Kurds are seen as the reasonable party here. It's the Turks that are assholes.
Didn't the US liberate itself from the terror of England ? I don't see the problem where the Kurds (different people, different language, different culture, different everything) want some autonomy for themselves. Just like Hong Kong wants the autonomy it was promised. Just like Catalunia wanted more autonomy.
Trump threw the Kurds under the bus this week. If Turkey can do what it wants, Turkey will cause a massacre. A real low-life back-stabbing move by Trump. Even his own Republicans disagree with him. The Pentagon, the republicans, the democrats, the europeans and the rest of the world are all in agreement that the Kurds need protection from Turkey. The Kurds were the true (and only) heros in the Syria war. Are we just gonna watch them get slaughtered ? Even Mitch McConnell, who usually has his head up Trump's arsehole all the way till his toes, is strongly in favor of protecting the Kurds. What does that tell you ?
I wasn't paying attention to the news yesterday, but I think I heard something about the republicans getting a "super-majority" (66.6+%) to force Trump to let the US army stay in Syria. If that is true, it's the first time in many years I'll be rooting for something the republicans do.

I can't even really get mad at good ol' jerksoda here, because honestly, he knows just as well as everyone else here that if he got pasted by a city bus tomorrow, the world would not be diminished in any measurable way.
On the other hand, the dingbats who keep feeding him deserve only derision.

Didn't take the Turks very long. (
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-49983357) Turkey has launched a ground offensive in northern Syria, hours after its warplanes and artillery began hitting territory held by Kurdish-led forces.

The Turks were mobilizing long before they had the call where they rolled Trump.

The Turkish-Kurdish situation is much like everything else to do with the Trump presidency: it looks suspicious as hell, and it's hard as fuck to tell exactly what's going on and why.

Hold the presses. We have a clarification on the Syria withdrawal, from He Of Great and Unmatched Wisdom - (
https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/10/8/20904391/trump-military-ammunition-lie-explained) the army was out of bullets.
Quote:
“When I took over our military, we did not have ammunition,” Trump said. “I was told by a top general, maybe the top of them all, ‘Sir, I'm sorry sir, we don't have ammunition.' I said, I will never let that happen to another president.”
Anyone know how many stars the tippy-top general has? JK? Your insights?
