Can someone please help me.
I'm trying to complete the Anareren's Devil Tanto Quest.
I've followed the instructions on the spoiler link on this site but I still can't find the damn Devil Tanto.
Is there an "easy" way to reprogramme the game file in order to think I've completed the quest. I've moved on a long way in the story line since receiving the quest, but this has been a constant problem seeing as I can't get more quests or the guild to come back.
Please help one frustrated want-to-be theif.
Thx

Yep beauty,
But as I explained in the first post it doesn't seem to be in the chest. That or I took it and sold it before thinking or something. Anyway it's not there now. I've checked multiply times.
What I was wondering was if there is a way to write some script so that it will appear in my inventory so that I can give it to Aengoth the Jeweler.
Something silimar to this code
player->AddItem "bonebiter_bow_unique" 1
that is just lines below the instructions you linked me to.
As i'm not a games programmer, I would need to know exactly where to add this and what to add.
Thanks for your help though, it's greatly appreciated, particulary the fast response time.
Looking foward to the next reply.
Thx again

Sorry sorry sorry. I wasn't being a Careful Reader (Translation: I'm an idiot).
Quick check of the Official Morrowind Forums revealed this -
Open the console and type: player->AddItem, "devil_tanto_tgamg", 1

The Tanto isn't added to the chest until you specifically ask Aengoth the Jeweler about the tanto (i.e. make sure you click on the Tanto dialog topic.)
Try that and see what happens.

Excellent work,
Thanks again for the quick response time.
I guess now, the only thing I need to know, is exactally where to type in the text.
When you say "open the consol" are you referring to my save game file, and do I need to open this in a text editor program or am I getting confused.
As I said i' not a programmer just an avid gamer and don't really know where it should be inserted.
Looks like i'm the idiot now.
Thx again all help is greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming that you're on a PC, not an XBox. If you're on an XBox, I got no helps for ya. If you're on a PC, load your saved game (whichever one you were fiddling with). Once loaded, press the Tilde key. A Tilde looks like this ~ and it to the left of the 1 key on the top row. You may or may not have to press SHIFT first to get the Tilde (cause it's the top character and all). That should open a little DOS-looking dialog box over your screen. That box is the "console." In many, many games, you can open the "console" with Tilde to enter cheats, fiddle with the codes, etc. So, in that box, type the thing I posted above. Then hit Enter. Then close the Console Dialog Box. Make sense? Sorta?

Thx Zaphod,
I'll give it a try as soon as i'm home from work tonight.
Will post once I've tried it, but thanks for all your help so far.
I'm quite impressed as to the level of response that this forum has.

Thanks for all your help.
The code worked, Aengoth the Jeweler got his tanto, the mages guild is full again and i'm now off on my next quest. With an extra Devil Tanto in hand. Ha Ha.
Figured I needed something for all our troubles.
Thx Again
