I am greatly facinated by this whole banning thing. And now I have a new question.
Would you guys (David or GBM) be able to ban each other, MsLedd, or Digital Nightfall from TTLG in the hypotetical and higly unlikely situation that said VIP's began a trolling rampage unlike anything ever seen at these boards?
Is such a thing possible, even in theory??
But okay, I suppose you guys have some sort of contract or even unwritten deal that prevents you from even thinking the about starting a power-struggle or internal (or Invisible) War behind the scenes in such a way.
So let me ask in another way.
Lytha. She is the resident Thief guru, and a living legend at these boards, is she not? And she has been a member longer than even you guys, and from what I understand, she was the resident Thief guru even back then!
If I were to Mind Trick her into becoming the Trolling Maniac of Doom for a few weeks, would you still ban her? I mean, despite her being almost VIP-like in practice, she is in theory still just a member.
Could you afford to permanently ban someone like Lyhta under such circumstances? What are the rules for this sort of thing?
PS: I am in no way implying, suggesting or wishing that any of the above mentioned persons should be banned. I merely needed suitable examples to ask my questions properly.

Our administrators cannot be banned in the same way a regular member can.
We have no problem with banning anyone who we believe deserves it. Length of membership will not prevent us from banning someone, and we have banned prominent members as well as those who registered a long time ago in the past.
Having said that it is only natural that someone who has been a member for a long time and has not caused trouble previously will be given a little more leeway than a new member who signs up and starts causing trouble immediatley.

Are you kidding? I used to ban GBM at least once a week, if, for no other reason than he's Canadian (and Scottish). But, he'd always make those puppy dog eyes at me and go all sweet-like and velevety-tongued (not like THAT you perverts, we're just friends) with promises to behave and be less... Canadian. And I'd fall for it EVERY time (that man KNOWS how to suck up, lemme tell you). Anyway, after a while I gave up. What's a girl to do? ;)
Oh, and I banned Digi's Dick once, but that was a different thing entirely.

Flame wars usually get people banned from what I've seen, usually two people slagging each other off when they post.

I banned myself once by accident. :(

While we're on the subject of bans, Invisibility[?] got banned for posting porn right? Was it a repeat offence or something? Because I got warned twice for posting up links to warez but I haven't found myself out of the forums yet. Is it because certain rules must be more strictly enforced?

Bah, warez isn't nearly as cool as porn.
