Since it is supposed to be possible to play through Deus Ex 2 without ever drawing a weapon, this leads me to think it might be nice to have a thieving skill. My main motivation for killing people in the original Deus Ex was to get the items they were carrying. In most cases the items were just a weapon and ammo (which you obviously wouldn't need if you were playing through the game without drawing a weapon), but sometimes they carried lockpicks, multitools, healing items, etc. that would still be very useful to a person that is playing through the game with no weapons). Adding a pickpocketing skill would enable people to take items from people without the person even knowing you are there. There could be multiple levels of stealing skill with higher levels making it possible to steal better items. Perhaps the highest level would enable you to steal the ammo from someone's gun so that they wouldn't have any bullets to fire at you even if they do spot you (though this may be too unrealistic). Anyway, being able to steal items from people without their knowing you are there would make ghosting through the game more fun and more challenging (since it would be necessary to sneak up on ever person just to see what they are carrying). The stealing skill could be activated by right clicking on the AI or perhaps all the AI's could have a belt and clicking on the belt would activate the steal skill.

I like the idea. It is actually in Pokemon Gold / Silver / Crystal as well.

If I've understood correctly, there is no skill system in DX2, but more augs instead.
