They still whack you with it or have they gone all cuddly?
I always thought that getting all cuddly was the first step to the eventual whacking.

Back in the day it was whack it till it broke. They were unnoticeably notched to break though.
Yeesh. I think I'm glad I missed that. :P

Aw shit.... My stupid public skool education is showing, again. I only learnt (that's right, irregular verbs!) the first definition for stunt. What a gyp.
You're missing the point entirely.

In many Asian countries, kids are disciplined with bokkens while doing some insane number of push-ups. The upside to that is that 1) they seem to have firm-looking butts and 2) those calluses make for some comfy cushions when there is nothing but a hard surface to sit on. Plus you can take a cheese-grater to them, bottle up the shavings, and sell it as seasoned human rinds.

No offense Sombras, but Muzman just won my heart.

Nah, I was just being silly. So I think I hit the nail squarely on the head with that one.
But I can't be sure. I don't have a degree in that sort of thing.

Sorry, I am not psychic, you'll have to form a question or statement so we can infer something. I was not home schooled, nor do I teach anyone in my home. So your ganging up on TafferBoy bears little weight on my fragile emotions.
I know nothing about you and your personal situation, and assumed nothing beyond what you posted in this thread. I was just taking a swipe at the argument that someone might want to homeschool to teach their kids about GUNS, which sounds a little nuts.
I mean, I'm on your side on the gun issue, sort of. I wouldn't even really want to be in a house that has a gun in it somewhere, and yet I recognize that this personal bias shouldn't be used to justify restricting gun access to responsible adult citizens such as yourself. I respect the right to bear arms even if it's something that I don't choose to do.
And yeah, if you're into owning and using weapons that shoot giant fuck off holes of death into things it only makes sense you'd want to raise kids with proper respect and training. But is that really something that can be used to justify
keeping kids out of public school?I recognize that I'm blowing one bit of your otherwise reasonable home schooling syllabus out of proportion, but it does come off as a good 2.5, maybe 2.6 on the survivalist militia scale of crazy.

Stitch, that was one thing from the syllabus for sure. I didn't say I would want to teach kids about guns. I said I'd want to teach them WHY it is important to have the right to keep and bear arms. Working with the actual firearms is secondary to that point of the syllabus. Field trip at the end of semester ;)
Although some people don't think things like the Constitution are important any more in this day and age, that is one thing I still hold sacred. I'm still serving the country in the reserve forces. I don't do it for money. I do it for everyone in this country so they have their rights protected. I realize it's hard to protect us from ourselves and the crappy government we've elected recently, but still, I'm serving the country so each and every person can live a life as best they can. I'll support the right of the guy who doesn't want to stand up at the ball game for the National Anthem. I don't agree with is point of view, but I agree with his right to choose to do so.
I don't agree with religious zealots who home school their children to be brain washed into their closed-mind culture, but yet, I will give my life in the defense of this country so they can do so. This is TBE's curriculum, like it or not.
