I actually discovered this bug several years ago, but I never got around to making a post about it. I'm kind of surprised that no one else has noticed it. As far as I can tell, it's gone completely undiscovered.
If you pay close attention, Deus Ex never allows two NPCs with the same dialog table speak at the same time -- at least not if they're within earshot each other. For example, the UNATCO troops facing off with the NSF at the barricades behind the 'ton Hotel all read from the same script. If you talk to one of them and then immediately turn and talk to another, the first trooper stops talking.
As far as I know, there is only one exception to this in the entire game. I don't have Deus Ex installed right now (hard drive failure ), but I'm reasonably sure I remember the setup for this. Between the generator mission and the airfield mission, you'll make a brief stop at UNATCO HQ. I believe this is the first time that the gates to Liberty Island are closed and guarded. If so, we're in the right place. It may be possible to do this later in the game as well -- I can't remember. The two guards by the gate are our "victims". They both use the same dialog table, and they're standing close enough together that you can strafe back and forth frobbing them, making their speech overlap.
Here's where it gets weird: they chose their lines randomly, but if you do this long enough, they'll eventually both attempt to say the same line together. When they do, they'll start...speaking in tongues :wot:. I really don't know how to describe it other than "garbled demon-speak" :ebil:. You just have to hear it.
I'm not really sure what causes this. My first thought was that it was some sort of constructive/destructive interference caused by mixing a sample with itself, but that would only make sense if the samples were started at the same time, and were phase or pitch shifted. I don't think DX pitch-shifts the dialog, but maybe it does. It's been a few months since I've played it.

Funny you should mention this, because I just noticed the exact same bug for the first time today at that same location. Certainly made for an amusing incident, I would've recorded it, but Fraps is an insufferable dick lately.

Well now there's something I haven't seen in Sunglasses At Night...
Worth the effort of firing DeusEx up though :joke:

You can do this most easily (I think) in Tong's control room after you reconcile the Triads.
I think what's happening is the game is trying to read the same file for different purposes, and something screws up and it winds up reading hideously wrong parts of it. I'm not really sure.

I know just about everything there is to know and i'm always on a quest to find something new out
