NEW AMNEEEEEEESIA IS OUUUUUUUUUUT!
Or is the OLD Amnesia and we simply forgot that we already played due to some kinda MEDICAL CONDITION????

No it's definitely a new one. It's on game pass. I've played the first couple hours of it. The story is you wake up in a WW1 bunker, don't remember shit, everyone's dead, and oh yeah, there's a big ass monster prowling the corridors. Your superiors collapsed the entrance to the bunker on their way out, so you're gonna have to blow it wide open if you wanna get out yourself.
The game fancies itself something of an imm sim. Early on it tells you to experiment and try things, and who knows, your imagination might just be rewarded. I dunno about that frictional, I can imagine a lot of things! Early on I find a locker locked with a chain, so I waste my only bullet trying to shoot off the chain. Didn't work! Later on I came to a hallway blocked by debris, but hey there's an explosive barrel next to it! Considering my main objective is blowing up the debris covering the exit, this particular obstacle seems like a no brainer. So I spend another bullet shooting the barrel, which makes a hell of a noise but does NOT clear the debris. *sigh* It's a fine survival horror game, I'm hooked on the story and scared outta my wits, but it's not much of an imm sim. Despite what the game tells you, experimentation often ISN'T a good idea, since a lot of it is gonna be noisy (attracting the monster) and waste precious resources.

More like Amnesia: The Bunkum, amirite
Maybe by suggesting you experiment and bring all manner of hell noises down around your ears, the developers are making the game scarier for you, henke. They're doing you a favour. Didja think about that, huh? Huh??

Right now I'm just replaying the same section over and over because it's not working out how I wanted and I'm getting annoyed.
I'm in a storage area, a maze of shelves. There's a trip wire blocking my progress. I could throw something at the trip wire to set it off, but despite the floor being littered in junk, none of it is INTERACTABLE. You can pick up random junk and throw it in this game (I've set off trip wires previously that way) but only if the devs have deemed that particular piece of junk interactable. These shelves look pretty lightweight, looks like I should be able to push them aside. I've pushed heavier objects already. But alas, these shelves are not PUSHABLE.
Ok, so I'll throw a bottle at the trip wire, the noise it makes will cause the monster to come running over and set off the trip wire, hopefully. Instead, the monster just walks right up to the trip wire but does not set it off. Out of desperation I just stand in a brightly lit area so the monster will see me, and come running along the maze, crossing the wire before he gets to me. Instead the damn beast just smashes through a shelf right in front of me and eats me. The monster is having more fun playing outside the rules of this game than I am. Glad someone is having fun.
edit: throw a chunk of meat near some rats eating a corpse and maybe they'll go over and eat it, letting you pass, or MAYBE just a couple of them will go and the rest will stay and then you'll still have to take damage running past them. WHO KNOWS! The systems in this game are weak and inconsistent.

Even if you were to return the game for a refund: the monster might not.

Jokes aside, this sounds like a right gas. I'm now even more curious to play it given henke's unfortunate trials, tribulations, and travails.

WHO KNOWS!
Have you tried disguising yourself by fashioning a false mustache made of cat hair?

Ok, so I've made it to the final bossfight.
A lot of this game I enjoyed.
The final bossfight, not so much. It has like a 2 minute long hike from the checkpoint to the actual fight and you gotta run that bit over and over and over again because it's not clear what the hell you're actually supposed to DO. Any remaining shred of terror that the monster might hold is drained, watching him crush your skull again and again just becomes tedious. *sigh*
edit: thiiiiis mother fucker
ok so after like 15 tries I just gave up and looked at a walkthrough, still can't do it. What's most annoying about this monster is that Frictional keeps breaking their own rules. It's attracted to sound, right? So if I make a lot of sound in a place you'd expect it to rush over there. Unless I cross over into another loading zone, even if I'm sneaking quietly, the damn thing will somehow read my mind and follow me to the new spot. I remember something like this in SOMA as well, where I managed to trap a monster in a room only for it to somehow just teleport itself out. Frictional are so in love with setting up their spookhouses that they'll only let you color outside the lines when it doesn't inconvenience THEM. Throughout the game you also learn things like "put 2 bullets in the monster or detonate a explosive near it and it'll run away and buy you some time". Guess what, all that shit is out the window in the final fight. I'M TRYING TO DO SOMETHING HERE YOU FUCKER CAN I GET LIKE TEN SECONDS TO MYSELF?????????

Alright, I finished the final boss fight, on like attempt #20, using methods I had tried several times before and had always failed but this time it just worked. For some reason. The systems in this game suck. Once I accepted that it was no imm sim I genuinely had a good time with the middle stretch of the game, but this is definitely Disappointment Of The Year so far. 6/10

I hope all my WHINING hasn't put anyone off playing this, because it does feel like a TTLG game. A lot of sneaking in pitch black darkness, hiding, waiting, scrounging supplies, piecing together the story from journals and documents. I hope all my criticisms have merely lowered your expectations enough that you can play it and say "hey this isn't that bad, henke's full of shit!"
