It's hilarious in the Bafford's video where he dies, runs into the throne room and grabs the scepter.

Just finished Ramirez.... :ebil:
He picks the door, dies, slides on the ground sideways around the corner to nab the purse from Ramirez belt just in time. You are right Luthien, these guys have proven yet again that the many splendors of The Dark Engine are still relevant. Thank you so much, I had seen as many speed runs to date I could find before these.

Hail Goldmoon Dawn!
So nice to read a familiar name!

You know, when I did my speed thief run (now almost exatctly ten years ago), Assassins really gave me a headache. It cost me _so_ much time to follow the assassins into Ramirez' place. And then this speed thief comes along and just blackjacks the assassin and carries him through the whole level. That idea alone has easily saved two minutes of game time. ANd nowadays we have it all taped on viedo! :D

I had no idea about the Running Interference glitch, and it still works in NewDark. She could rescue herself all along?

You can actually lean forward and run into the door and swing your blackjack to get her to run out. It's a much easier movement to fluidly execute than the way xmodule does. So far I've only managed to tie his time posted. I tried nabbing that speed potion quickly in hopes that it would make up the difference for taking a longer route, but it didn't.

Hehe, sweet memories: I remember well when deadman found out that Jenivere can be made to open the door herself by making noises with the sword, and how I ran around the area banging the sword everywhere until I could reproduce Azals feat. That must have been around '02. Today it seems to be simple routine to do it reliably.
P.S.: Ah here's the old thread:

Well I beat his Running Interference time by 1 second so I guess I have the new world record. I actually got a 1:05 once, but I was having a recording issue at the time so I may revisit it.

Just a quick question: was keyholing fixed in NewDark? I'm attempting a single-segment speedrun of TG with NewDark and I'm currently practicing the Mage Towers. The best way to quickly finish the Mage Towers is to rush to the tower of fire and open the door from the central keep, but unfortunately I can't seem to be able to keyhole. I gotta say I didn't try before since none of the previous missions 'require' you to do this, but by going through each tower you lose maybe 8 or 10 mins.

as far as I know, most exploits are actually possible because of bugs in the old engine. as NewDark fixes those, the chance your favorite glitch won't be there for you to exploit are pretty high.
