no walkthru helped me here:
one has to find an anomaly in the red forest. the guys there are supposed to aid cleaning it from monsters, probably with a sidequest, but they don't offer anything of the sort.
Did pseudogiants attack you there?

also that bloody forest is irradiated like mad. can't go through without a proper suit anyway?
I don't remember the forest being particularly irradiated, I definitely didn't put on a special suit for it, but I do remember it was a creepy place, especially because of (pseudo)dog swarms and those damned bloodsuckers. You never know where exactly they appear.

You can do it with or without the stalkers' help. You need to find an underground passage - there are two, one is full of bandits, the other should just have some mutants and will lead back out into another area of the forest.
Here's a map:

http://guides.gamepressure.com/stalkerclearsky/gfx/word/1783793203.jpgThe bandit tunnels are to the left of the big 2, the two red enemy markers are bandit squads. I believe the tunnel you want is between the 1 and the 2. If you follow the hill line between those points you should hopefully find it. I think it should come out around the first red dot above the 1. When you come out there'll be mutants, including a psuedo-giant, a load of anomalies inside a circle of rocks (the darker bit midway between 1 and 3) and if you head north you should get to 3 fairly easily which is exactly where your big portal anomaly is.

Nope, no pseudogiants, only dogswarms and one bloodsucker yet.
Heading east there was heavy radiation with full alert. Thanks for the map, I'll keep trying. :D
(Haven't touched the game in months...)

uh, made it.
That group wasn't the one to help and be helped and the terrifying barrier of reckless radiation.. erm... well it wasn't.
Artefacts. Anomalies. Who put these there? But as I said, I was gone for months. :p

STALKER is hard as hell until you get to the bar, and even afterwards things aren't very clear-cut. The best advice I can give is to take your time, don't try to complete every little side quest, and save a lot.

in STALKER retreat is a very good tactic. that's what I liked about it. no run in - spray - next room
