I think that when a stalker is wearing an artifact, it must be in direct contact with him.

that must be extreeeeeemely small then. but wouldn't you know? :weird:
i remember the SoC icon, nothing in CS.
more so than the common stalker suit? :erg: ts, russians...
There's a green rad icon on the right side of the screen. To be honest, when I saw that I thought "Cool! I'm protected against radiation!" [Ack! Gag! Thump!]
I thought that pretty much everywhere in the world green means "go/good" and red means "stop/bad". How 'bout a RED radiation icon to make it a little more clear. Crazy Ruskies.
It's little details that show the love. ;)

I don't remember actually, I hadn't problems with that as I always read descriptions ;)

Tsk, you westernerns are really hopeless when it comes to discerning what's beyond Carpathians and Baltic Sea.

Although CS has the annoying feature of the geiger counter being all but useless. I swear that thing ticks at most like background radiation even when you're apparently standing in a flesh vaporising gamma ray nightmare that sends the needle to eleven.

When the icon's red, you're really in trouble and will probably die without antirad/lots of medkits but when it's green you can probably get away with it provided you have a rad reducing artifact equipped which you probably will for about 80% of the game. Any warning icon is bad in stalker, positive (and also more negative) effects come under armour in the inventory.
And yeah, try looking at a map once in a while.

heck no, I just didn't make it beyond the Baltic Countries yet but I loved it there. Tallinn and Kuressaare are beautiful places with wonderful nice and relaxed people.
But there is no icon - green or red - in CS as it was in SoC. At least not always... And I don't even carry any artefacts yet.

There is a meter in the bottom right corner of the HUD for radiation in CS. The needle tells you how much radiation there is where you are standing, while the orange bar tells you your current radiation level.

my brain must be irradiated.

Aha, now it's there. Possibly wasn't before patch .07? Or I had my 16:9 settings wrong. :D
